Is this good or bad diet/cardio info?

So there is this bodybuilder at my gym that sometimes takes time to help keep me on the right path with bodybuilding, most of his advice is related to training but today he gave me some information about what his worked for him with while dieting.

As some of you know, I decided to take the month of September as a break from bulking and heavy weights and try to lose some fat while keeping some of the muscle I've put on this year. What I started doing is:

-carb cycling
-lower weights in the gym
-2 sessions of cardio per day (30min in the morning empty stomach, and 30min post workout.)

My carb cycle is two low days, one high day and repeat, on my low days I'm around 200g carbs, on high days I'm around 350g of carbs. So far I've lost lots of what I believe is water and I thought I was on the right path, but here is what my friend from the gym had to say:

1. Cut out my cardio - going from 0 cardio to 60min per day is a stupid way to lose fat. I'll be giving up a lot of muscle doing this.

2. low days should be below 60g carbs per day and should last 3 days b4 re-feed.

3. keep my weights heavy for muscle density.

4. If my genetics really suck that hard and I need cardio from the beginning, then only do it after my workout, am cardio isn't as necessary as most believe.

I don't know as much as i should about the keto diet and I'm kinda inclined to believe him b/c he is a fucking monster compared to me. Honestly that's saying a lot b/c most people i meet/train with compliment me on my strength or overall size, and he is def one of the guys I hope to look like one day.

One thing that concerns me though is the fact that some people are just fucking gifted for this sport and can get away with a lot when it comes to diet or training. He told me that he can carb cycle with 0 cardio and get plenty lean, not contest shape but plenty lean.

What do you guys think, stick with my program or should I follow his advice? This is my first time really trying to lose some fat, I am just using september as a test month to get an idea of what works for me diet wise and what doesn't.

I dont care who you are cardio is a good thing to add to help lean out. I would stick with 45min. I would keep the weights heavy though. It really depends on where you are now and where you want to get to. What are your goals?

Thanks for responding Nuk! Would you do just 45min in the morning empty stomach or after workout? I got you on the heavy weights though bro, like I don't know what I was thinking but it just seems like all the pros go lighter in their contest vids so I thought I need the same. Seems like all I've been reading today though says to keep doing what ever gave me results if it's heavy weights stick with that.

Here is where I am now:

started this week at 265 in the AM and 270 in the PM. I won't lie though I'm over 15% bf in my guesstimation. Remember I went from not working out at all for about a year to 20 weeks of heavy bulk training. Basically sets of 6 and 8. although I don't think I've eaten more than 3400cals on any day since I started working out again 20 weeks ago. I started at a sloppy 250lbs, not one vain in sight.

This week I started that carb cycle program and cardio as I mentioned and I have been getting 3000cals per day and about 400g protein. carbs as i mention have been between 200 and 350 on high days.

I was hoping to see some sort of change in bodyfat this month. just to see what works for me before I bulk again starting October.

I want to compete in april in my first show. However i have never dieted so I don't really know which fat loss approach I should use, that's why I wanted to use september as a test month to see if carb cycling worked for me.

Goals:
If I don't make the competition goal, my main goal is to look like a bodybuilder in the next 52 weeks. Right now I look more like a football player than a bodybuilder. From my frame you can tell i workout heavy but I still look natural IMO, I want to look like unnatural BB. I know it sounds weird but I want people to look at me and say, "there is no way he could be that way naturally". I know that image is a combination of low BF% and high amount of muscle tissue. I know a guy that is my height and only like 235 but b/c of his low bf% he looks like a monster and no matter how many times he says he never juiced not one person he talks to believes him. I like that.
