Do I ever cheat or mess up? SURE I DO

The title of this was inspired by a close friend of mine who has been training really hard for the last few months, purely for HER SELF! It’s a beautiful thing. There is no show, competition or chance at taking home a trophy at the end of her journey. She has committed to intense cardio, throwing around heavy weights and a lean protein, grains, veggies and fresh fruit nutrition plan. She has done AMAZING as well.
One day we were having a heart to heart about her progress and what she should do to continue the momentum. My advice to her was, stick to it, and try not to cheat! I then told her my own story and adventures with the infamous “cheat meal”. So many athletes, who train hard, dedicate themselves to a strict diet and early morning cardios’; have allotted meals, or days for cheating. Cheating in this reference is in regards to their diet, selecting something that is not written in their regime. Like a pizza, or a cookie or a large meal at their local restaurant. At times this turns from a taste, to a snack, to a meal...to a day... and in the worst case a few days of binge ch”eating”. Its heart breaking really, because all that hard work and dedication can some times waste away from something as simple as a taste of a friends poutine or a lick of a daughters ice cream cone, that leads to a full day of unwise food selections. This self destructive habit is common, and I have to admit I have even found myself in the exact situation above.
