Deadlift ?

I have a deadlfit ?. I usually pyramid up on everything including deads like 12 10 8 6. I was wondering for bodybuilding purposes only not powerlifting, what do you do or suggest once I hit my max working weight which is 405 for 6 reps? I don't want to go much heavier than that. so would I benefit from doing a 2nd and 3rd set at 405? I've never been a big of fan of 5 sets of with the same weight. Thoughts???

I do 8 with 225, then 315, then 405, then I'll pick my work set. I pretty much always try to lift heavier, but never at the expense of good form. I'll usually see what I did the previous time and add a 2.5 to each side. That will be my one and only working set to failure. I think I'm up somewhere around 560 - 570 for 10+ at this point I need to get those hooks that strap around your wrist as I can't hold it even with straps.

Thx, I'm definitely going to try adding a 2 1/2 to each side every week for a while and see how that works! Hell if I did tgat for a full year I would be deadlifting 650lbs for reps lol. Doubt it happens but let's see how high it gets come tge end of 2012.

Btw "dude" please don't post directly after I do, our avatars are the exact same pose & your giving me a size complex with your huge ass back!!!!

LOL!!! Adding the 2.5lbs per side got me to where I'm at, but I don't deadlift very often now, so the progression has slowed.

If you want to just throw something else out there, try standing on a 2 inch platform and deadlift off of it for deficit deads, it'll help add something different to a traditional deadlift as will rack pulls

Due to back issues, I can only do rack pulls. I will do at least 5 sets and maybe more just depending on how my back is feeling. I love them, but have to be careful. As far as form, I always pause at the bottom and never, never, never drop the weight like a lot of deadlifters like to do.
