We have one at my gym, but it belongs to an individual so it is locked up all the time. I've never used it and have always been curious about it. Do they really make it easier to squat or is it more for a beginner learning to squat? I have no problem holding weight on my back so I wasn't sure if it simply made it easier to handle or if there was more to it

just try it and let us know or have you really tried it and like it just don't want to tell us, waiting for someone else to admit it first lol

LoL, I've never tried it. I've been curious though. Because it is always locked up and the owner of the bar has quit coming the damn thing nwver gets used anymore so I may have to try one at a different gym

never ever seen these before but defo a good idea.would realy like to use them for front squat...my front delts are always sweaty and it can slip...but even for rear i think i would use it...and why not??.... only thing i can think of is maybe the emphasis might change to more front quads..just cuz the weight looks like its on the delts more.

it actually feels more difficult. It sets the load different and I struggle with it but it is an excellent thing to do. I wish my gym had it.

i feel like they shouldnt be able to store it at the gym if its not ok for everyone to use it, we have a guy who locks up all his keetle balls under a piece of equipment (he's a trainer) i dont want to use them but kinda pisses me off.

I have one (Dave Draper's) and love it. I was having serious shoulder issues. I discovered it was from doing squats with the straight bar. I started using the safety bar and the shoulder problem went away quickly. Definitely a must have.

I've been using a safety squat bar since I tore my pec and can't hold a straight or even a buffalo bar. good ar for everyday squatting? imo, no but a must have to give your shoulders or elbows a break. bench and squat heavy enough and things will start to hurt.

I don't like that it's locked up either, but an individual bought it so I can see why they'd lock it up. If the gym would buy one then we'd all get to use it. I thought about getting a few guys together and buying one to leave in the gym
