Stair steppers...

I normally don't use these, but I did today and my quads were on fire. I don't see how this works as well for cardio as say a treadmill. I couldnt really get my heart rate up, but my legs were killing me. I stopped after 10 minutes and went over to the treadmill. Does it really burn as many calories as other machines?

For me it's the only piece of cardio I've used the past 5 years.......it's like doing mini lunges for 20 min.......treadmill seems lie a waste...I am dripping wet on the stairmill compared to precore / treadmill....I love doing it before leg day....gets the all pumped and ready not to mention warming up my knees as well.....

I thought the stair stepper was for women/old people....until I actually tried it. lol. 15-20mins on it - I'm sweating uncontrollably and huffing/puffing like a little baby. It is hardcore.

Ive never been on the stepper , can you feel it in ur glutes?

I know one thing after the 7-8 minutes I was on it, my legs had had enough. I hadn't really gotten into the huffing and puffing part, but I'm sure it was coming. I selected a program and didn't even make it through the warm up

It was the most humbling thing I've ever been through as far as cardio goes. I felt like I'd been doing leg extensions all afternoon

It's very much a Love / Hate piece of equipment because it does kick your ass but the results are awesome.....you really feel it where the treadmill not so much. I wouldn't go by the machine burning calorie count...per the machine it's low but you know you burned a lot more just by how wiped out and sweaty you are after 20 min......love, hate.
