Bad elbows? Work triceps more effectively without pain

I'm not promoting this guy or his website. I've had elbow pain/popping/cracking/tendon pain/ in both elbows for a while and hurt my left elbow pretty bad about 5 months ago and had to take 3 months off from lifting. Started drinking more put on some weight. Etc.Etc. I still don't know what I did I just woke up one morning and it hurt like hell. I couldn't squeeze or hold anything and lift up. Well my elbow is about 95% right now feels good. I just started doing triceps again and found this video very helpfull. This guy talks a lot so skip to minute 1 like right away and he doesn't show the excersise till the 5 minute mark.

I didn't do the rocking back and forth but I did rock back and held the angle and seemed to help. Took all the pressure off my elbows. Let me know what you guys think if you try this in the gym. I have never ever seen anyone do this method on the pushdown.

OK not to sound stupid or anything, but how would I enlarge the vid w/o searching on YOUTUBE for it? So I can see the entire screen

If you want to see it on YouTube, click the YouTube logo in the bottom right. To make it full screen, click the mark to the right of the logo that looks like a frame.

Interesting video. Never seen anyone do triceps like that before. I'm going to try that out at my next workout.

Good thread, I was just about to start a similiar thread, I fell on ice almost a full yr ago and cracked my already bad left elbow, it was bruised as hell, but 2 Dr's looked at x ray and agreed it was NOT broke or fractured. But these backwood quacks around here couldnt diagnose the flu correctly, so I'm not so sure....its still more tight than sore and whenever I do dumbell chest presses, that bad left side gives me fits and wants to wander off to the side.

If anyone here can recommend a good rehab, please do. I'm tempted to have a MRI done on it

I just finished dealing with an elbow issue. First Dr was a general practioner gave me an injection and it didn't do shit. Then I went to my ortho guy and got an injection from him and no pain what so ever. I tell you what though I am giving up all direct tricep exercise, It hurt so bad I couldn't even hold a cup of coffee. I'm just going to do my presses and dips no other tri stuff. Im getting old and don't want to give up training altogether because of getting hurt.

I did this friday and besides feeling like a total goofball it felt like I was using my momentum from rocking back and forth to sorta swing it. also putting extra stress at the start of my extension really aggrivates my tendonitis so I'm just going to avoid that anyways.

I told you I didn't use the rocking motion either just the angle he used stepping far away from the machine. I don't dig the rocking motion either

My elbows are junk at this point. I have been doing a very similiar version of this tricep movement and it is just about the only way I can do pushdowns. It works very good for me and I have very little pain dyring the movement.

I did it this morning. I figured that the rocking would not be good, so I made the movement deliberate so I didn't carry over any momentum. I'm gonna be sore—actually, I am sore. It felt a little odd doing it that way so there's an obvious getting used to it period. One thing I noticed right away was that I had to go lighter. Not sure if it will help the elbows once you get heavier.. maybe.

Yeah pretty sore the first time I did this. Like in the gym I was cramping up really bad.. I think a small curling bar feels a lot better than the rope also.

damn all you guys with bad elbows, i feel fortunate! my knees are shot but thankfully my elbows are smooth like i just oiled them lol,

Interesting video....may have to give that a try on Friday when I do arms. I have bad elbows too...have to be really careful what I do or bad news. I use to do heavy skull crushers with the curl bar and these absolutely....imo....the reason they hurt. So, I totally avoid those. I still do the movement but use dumbbells or a variation on cables...usually standing.

Yeah it works. The rocking part I don't get but the angle standing away from the machine is good. And some sort of straight or curl bar works good too.
