Questions for injectable B12 users.

Thinking about running some injectable B12, but have a few questions that my research hasn't answered so well. There seems to be conflicting info so I'll just seek out some first hand experience.

1.) Mythylcobolamine vs. Cyanocobalamine. Supposedly cyano has to be broken down to methyl before it can be used, and ends up losing a lot of potency in the process, making methyl far superior. However, methyl is far more expensive....worth the price difference?

2.) Do you have to up the dose if using cyano since it is not absorbed as efficiently as methyl?

3.) What dosing schedule worked best for you, and was it subQ or IM?

Thanks all!

Most use cyanocobalamin because it is the least painful. Here's some info on the different types:

From the blog of Fred Bloem, MD, – Holistic Physician in Maryland:

Cyanocobalamin can be given as an intramuscular injection. It should not be given intravenously. However, after injection it will need to convert to methylcobalamin, and then to hydroxocobalamin to be used by the body. Of all the forms of Vitamin B12 it is the least painful for the patient to inject. After introduction into the body it provides a small amount of cyanide. For individuals who are overall very healthy this is a good choice and this is also the least expensive form of injectable Vitamin B12. It is known that some people, such as smokers, are less able to transform cyanocobalamin into methylcobalamin due to toxins and heavy metals in the liver. These individuals need to use other forms of Vitamin B12.

Methylcobalamin is more bioactive and can be given intramuscularly, intravenously, and intraarticularly. It is slightly painful to inject into the muscle. In my practice I also use methylcobalamin when I do Prolozone injections into joints and into subcutaneously (under the skin). This is also a better choice for smokers who are unable to convert cyanocobalamin into methylcobalamin.

Hydroxocobalamin is the most bioactive form of Vitamin B12 and mostly given intravenously as intramuscular injections are very painful. If given intramuscularly it is mixed the local anesthetic procaine. Hydroxocobalamin is retained longer in the body and can be dosed less frequently. An additional application of hydroxocobalamin is that it can be used for patients with cyanide poisoning as it binds cyanide and allows for elimination through the kidneys.

And to answer the question:

1) I've only used cyanocobalamin (it's the cheapest of course)

2) The maximum I've used for dosage is 2ml. Did 2ml for first few days, then maintained with 1ml.

3) Took every day at 1ml after the initial loading of 2ml for first few days, almost 3 weeks was how long the vial lasted (had a 30-40ml bottle).

cyanocobalamin is all I ever used 1000 mcg Ed sub-q no pain for me felt great and full of energy the entire time I use it I get get grade it works fine and super cheap

Thanks guys. I expected mixed reviews...as I do with any supplement or drug. Looks like I'll just have to try it out myself!

I kept meaning to register, but finally did so to reply to this. I use a bunch of other injectables besides AAS, like curcumin, glutathione, B complex, etc.

My wife enjoys the results of my test usage, but generally thinks it's weird how many different shots I take.

However, one morning I was loading up some B complex into a slin and she asked about it. Apparently the topic of B12 shots came up at her work, and her coworker was paying $20 to go in and have a single shot administered.

Anyways, long story short, she asked to try it, and it made a huge difference in her energy levels. Everyone's different. She now asks me to load up a slin pin for her several times a week, and she subq's it.

Welcome to MuscleChemistry brutha! Your wife sounds like a cool lady! lol

Thanks man. Actually she's been largely indifferent to the stuff I do, and it was only a couple weeks ago that she took the plunge.

What really surprised me is she let me put a half ml of curcumin in her shoulder when she was sick. And curcumin can be painful.

well indifferent aint as good as supportive but a whole hell of a lot better then condemning lol.

I guess I should have clarified this. Not oil soluble, but is the b12 suspended in an oil ester or water (test E vs winstrol depot)
Gotcha. I haven't seen a suspension. I get mine from Animal's board, but I suspect it's easily obtained from veterinary supply sites.

Reason i ask is I got a suspension from India and I am wondering if that is why I don't get much from it. My doc originally prescribed it in an oil based form.

I use Hydroxocobalamin, body seems to absorb most of it, I never pee red after administering it, however I would also pee red with cyanocobalamin. PIP with with Hydro is also non existent. Not that cyano was any bad in any way, but I could still feel it a little.
