The third edition of the Fédération Française de Force (FFF) 2023 Girl Power Tournament was held on Oct. 22, 2023, and the standard was higher than ever. Ten female athletes representing seven nations from the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) lifted raw for cash prizes in Cenon, France.

The 2023 Girl Power Tournament was scored entirely on GL points — a formula designed to compare the lifters across different bodyweight categories used by the IPF and its affiliates. Jade Jacob of France scored the overall victory with a GL score of just under four points more than silver-medalist Agata Sitko of Poland. The final results are below:

2023 Girl Power Tournament Results

[*]Jade Jacob (France) — 120.39 GL points | 5,000 Euros (approx $5,300)
[*]Agata Sitko (Poland) — 116.67 GL points | 3,000 Euros (approx $3,200)
[*]Heather Connor (USA) — 114.36 GL points | 1,500 Euros (approx $1,600)
[*]Noémie Allabert (France) — 112.22 GL points | 1,000 Euros (approx $1,070)
[*]Sara Naldi (Italy) — 110.66 GL points | 500 Euros (approx $535)
[*]Bobbie Butters (UK) — 107.85 GL points
[*]Amélie Mierger (France) — 105.31 GL points

Jade Jacob’s (57KG) Standout Performance
Jacob’s top lifts from the Girl Power Tournament are listed below:

  • Squat — 186 kilograms (410 pounds)
  • Bench Press — 97.5 kilograms (215 pounds)
  • Deadlift — 227.5 kilograms (501.5 pounds)
  • Total — 511 kilograms (1,126.5 pounds)
Jade Jacob had an outstanding competition despite missing two of her lifts. She nailed the 186-kilogram (410-pound) squat that she missed at the 2023 Sheffield Championships. The current world record raw squat in the 57-kilogram class of 185.5 kilograms (409 pounds)* belongs to Bobbie Butters, who ranked sixth overall in this contest. The contest initially had an IPF sanction to allow for official world record attempts, but the sanction was revoked on the day of the competition.**

*According to Open Powerlifting, Stefanie Cohen and Marianna Gasparyan have exceeded Butters’ world record raw squat in WRPF competition with lifts of 190 kilograms and 220 kilograms, respectively. The IPF still lists Butters lift as the all-time raw world record.

**There were conflicting reasons for why the sanction was revoked. BarBend will update this article if more information is made available.

Jacob attempted a 231.5-kilogram (510-pound) deadlift to unofficially beat her own world record by half a kilogram. She pulled it successfully, but it sprang out of her hands at the top of the lift. Nevertheless, she set a new personal best raw total of 511 kilograms (1,126.5 pounds) — only 1.5 kilograms (3.3 pounds) away from Natalie Richards’ raw total world record.

Jacob improved one rank on the overall IPF classic rankings. Only four women in the IPF have ever set higher GL points scores. Jacob is the youngest woman to break through the 120 GL points barrier and the only one still seeking her first world title. At 22 years old, Jacob has plenty of time to hit that target.

Jacob is not on the roster for the European Powerlifting Federation (EPF) European Classic Championships in Estonia in December 2023, so she is expected to compete next at the 2024 Sheffield Championships in the UK on Feb. 10, 2024. She was the bronze medallist at the 2023 Sheffield Championships, winning £12,500 (approx $15,250) in prize money.
