Bamboozled! Big Time

So Atlantic City Electric comes out to my house canvasing the neighborhood, tells me that they have new boxes that will save me money monthly and they keep more accurate readon kilowats or whatever they measure it with, and then tell me i will get a 50$ credit on my next electric bill, so i say sure why not!

So after they sign me up and i sign on the dotted line, they then give me this form that states they have the right to automatically shut down my Air conditioning remotely during times of stressed over usage up to 12 times from june through August and as little as 0 time and averaging 5 times,lol

Wow! The guy never mentioned this shit, not one fucking time, and it wasnt until after i signed up they gave me the real details,lol

Now they are calling me asking if i want a new FREE thermostat installed in my house,lol, GOD only knows what that fine print will say ,lol, " We have installed cameras in your thermostat, and may record as many as 12 times and as little as 0 but average 5 recording"

unfucking real! So now I have to call them up, and opt out of this fucking "sneaky box"

yeah i should have, i literally signed it on my car as i was walking out to go xmas shopping when i seen the guy walking around and talked to him and read the second paperwork on the way to the mall getting pissed off the more i read,lol.

When the city I lived in went from analog to digital meeters, everyones electric bill went up. They said it was from an exta cold winter. Ha ha... the parking lot downtown has a single overhead light and their bill doubled!!

Well I was able to opt out when the guy showed up to my house to put the thing on. He even told me he wouldnt want the thing,lol. Sad!

And to DlStrykers point, these fuckers dont even charge you exact amounts, the electric company here goes by what you paid that month from last years bill, its a fucking joke. We went on vacation one year nearly the entire month of August and our bill was rediculouse , so my wife calls them and says we werent even home to use electric the entire month, and they said they average it out from the same month of last years bill, what kind of shit is that!

it's what they call estimating, the power company has cut back on meter readers-so people that have analog meters they often times just estimate the bill...in their favor of course

It's crazy how things are set up to monopolize power companies and then they can pretty much charge as they see for. We have a huge thing going on here where Progress Energy upped everyone's bill by like 10% I think to pay for a new reactor or something and now they've decided not to build it, but they are keeping the money
