Let's go back to the beginning, the white man wasn't traveling across Africa gathering up slaves to ship west. They rounded up their own people and brought them over to be sold. This goes back to your other point slavery was rampant throughout the world in almost every culture back then.
What I'm sick of from the left is if you don't agree with them on this issue you are a racist. If you don't agree with them on immigration you are a xenophobe. If you don't agree with them on anything they will shout you down and try to silence you. They actually believe that HATE SPEECH is not protected under the first amendment! These people are living in an alternate reality that is so fucked it's hard to figure out how they function from day to day.

To be a 100% realistic, all of us learn about race & develop our own opinions some where along the way. Personally I would rather get along with people, but I also know where I stand & who I stand with if shit keeps getting ignorant... unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be getting better any time soon

Regarding "hate speech", "hate groups" and I'll add "domestic terror groups" in with those other two, ysterday's newspaper had an article on the front page entitled "Rally cut short by anti-hate protests". This was a rally in favor of free speech in Boston. It was organized by a "small group of conservatives", which was not identified by any particular name until the very end of the articke. It turns out it was the Boston Free Speech Coalition. I suppose just the "c" word is enough to make them 'bad'... The "counter-protestors" - actually the protestors, as the event was a rally in support of free speech, NOT a protest against anything - marched on the rally, causing the rally organizers and speakers to abandon the bandstand where they planned to give a series of speeches. Boston police had to escort the conservatives out of the area and were attacked by the protestors in the process. The protestors were yelling anti-nazi and anti-fascist slogans at the "conservatives"; and the police reported protestors throwing bottles, urine and ricks at them. Some protesters were dressed all in black with faces covered with bandannas. After all of this description, the article finally mentions Black Lives Matter, saying "members of the... movement later protested..." and during which they pounded on a police vehicle.
An elderly woman carrying a small American flag was knocked down as the flag was taken from her by a protester as well.
After all of that, the same article goes on to say that the protest was "mostly peaceable" and afterwards a "a picnic atmosphere took over"... tossing beachballs, banging on bongo drums and playing reggae music."
So let me get this straight: a group called the Free Speech Coalistion is attacked by Black Lives Matter; the Boston cops are attacked by Black Lives Matter when they intervene; an elderly woman CARRYING THE AMERICAN FLAG is knocked down as the flag is taken from her - but it's a "peacable protest"???? How the FUCK is that a peacable protest??? And when is the BLM "movement" going to be identified as a "hate group" and domestic terror organization???
I tell you, I am getting more and more angry about this bullshit - and the bullshit I'm talking about is the left being given a pass to do ANYTHING THEY WANT to conservatives. This pass comes from the leftist mainstream media; democrat politicians; AND REPUBLICANS WHO CAVE TO "POLITICAL CORRECTNESS"!
There were numerous Republicans who took the position of condemning the Charlottesville "Alt-right" out of hand, without mentioning the attacks by those on the left and laying the blame there, WHERE IT BELONGS!

Has anyone ecer read the Turner Diaries? Look it up. Read it! It was written in the 70's by a white supremacist. I'm not advocating white supremacy at all. What I'm getting at is, when I read this book I thought there is NO WAY anything as extreme as what the author described could ever happen. I read it in the late 90's. Here we are 20 years later and we're almost at the point in the breakdown of society described in that book!

That is fantastic. Frankly, I'm worried about Gettysburg. The new visitor center, built somewhere around 2007, eliminated many of the historic displays. The electric map presentation, which gave an account of the battle in detail and was an excellent primer for touring the barrlefield itself, has been replaced by a 30 minute prpopaganda movie narrated by Morgan Freeman about slavery and has NOTHING to do with the battle at all!
I'm very happy to hear that Alabama is concerned enougg about history to take steps to preserve it.
