Just in from Flex.com... it's too bad because I love watching her compete, but she's doing what makes her happy so I've got nothing but respect for that.
Gina Aliotti has opted to skip the 2010 Figure Olympia
April 29, 2010
Back in December 2009, we reported that IFBB Pro League figure athlete Gina Aliotti was skipping the 2010 Arnold Classic. After taking second at the '09 Figure Olympia and Figure International, many wondered when she'd decide to make her return to competition.
For now, we have our answer: Not in 2010.
Flexonline.com has learned that Aliotti has chosen not to compete at this year's Figure Olympia, and a timetable on when she will again take the stage is uncertain.
"I just got married, so I'm continuing to focus on my first year of marriage, and I'm working intensely on my Website — http://ginaaliotti.net — which is going to help girls find that balance where they can live healthy and stay in the best shape of their lives, even if they're not competing," Aliotti said. "I'm at peace with my decision because I'm able to give all of my focus to other people and teach them the lifestyle, which is where my heart is and a big part of who I am."
Aliotti, at age 25, is a decorated veteran of the figure scene; she has amassed 5 professional victories and has been runner-up at the Fitness International and the Figure Olympia on two occasions.
