A few years ago, I had half a my thyroid removed because of a benign tumor. They put me on Synthroid to suppress the other half from functioning. Well after about two years, my doctor, who is nationally very well know, told me on one of my routine six month thyroid checkups that the consensus in the medical community was that it was not necessary to suppress the functionality of the other half. The the tumor that I had was rare in males and the chances of it happening again were almost non-existant. So he took me off Synthroid. Well, I went to the doctor, different doctor, he was a specialist, to get propecia to protect my hair and she wanted to check my thyroid thinking it could be causing my hair loss (didn't really want to tell her the actual reason, although she did ask me if I needed the steroid speech . Well, my thyroid output tested high, 7.5 (norm .5 to 5). She wants to put me back on Synthroid, I suppose to suppress it. I don't want to suppress it. Any thoughts?
