It may be tough to believe, but Arnold Schwarzenegger needs a hit. The man who redefined blockbuster movies in the ‘80s and ‘90s has been relegated to smaller releases (2017’s Killing Gunther) and big-budget bombs (2019’s ill-fated Terminator: Dark Fate) since his post-gubernatorial return to showbiz at the start of the 2010s.
Now, instead of looking for success on the big screen, Schwarzenegger is trying his luck in the streaming world with the upcoming action-comedy series on Netflix, FUBAR. Check out the new trailer below:

What Is Netflix’s FUBAR About?
In FUBAR, Schwarzenegger plays a CIA operative on the verge of retirement. But before he can enjoy his farewell cake, he’s given a final assignment: Extract a fellow operative (??Monica Barbaro) before it’s too late. It just so happens the operative is his daughter — and neither knows the other works for the CIA.
Here’s how Netflix describes the eight-episode series:
??When a father and daughter learn that they’ve each secretly been working as CIA Operatives for years, they realize their entire relationship has been a lie and they truly don’t know one another at all. Forced to team up as partners, FUBAR tackles universal family dynamics set against a global backdrop of spies, fantastic action and humor.
Schwarzenegger is no stranger to the action-comedy genre — 1994’s spy satire True Lies still holds firm as one of the Governator’s stronger efforts, earning more than $370 million at the box office. The fact that it’s a TV series is new territory, however. (Interestingly enough, there is a TV version of True Lies currently on CBS, sans Schwarzenegger.)

Aside from his role on The New Celebrity Apprentice and his voicework for the animated Superhero Kindergarten, Schwarzenegger hasn’t had extensive roles on TV recently. In fact, this is his first starring role in a live-action streaming series overall.
But he won’t be alone in this endeavor. In addition to Barbaro, the cast includes Milan Carter, Fortune Feimster, Travis Van Winkle, and Jay Baruchel. The show also reunites him with Gabriel Luna, who he starred alongside in Terminator: Dark Fate.
All eight episodes of FUBAR will debut on Netflix on May 25, 2023.
