I would like to lose 30 lbs - I have tried almost everything. Can someone recommend a diet regimen that has worked for them? I am interested in low carb but the problem for me is how many times I should eat and suggestions of what to eat with what?

first of all- low carb isin't an Ideal weight loss plan if you ask me. If you go that rought, make it a temporary thing. Carbs are the the fuels that not only give you energy, but they also help speed your metabolism. If you eat a carb (preferably complex, whole-grain) in the morning, it will give you the energy you need to burn more calories more efficiantly. Even if it is the ONLY carb you eat, a breakfast carb first thing in the AM is always good (and it burns off as water and CO2- protien burns of as a toxin). Try eating carbs before 2pm and none in the evening- it works well. AND DON'T SKIP MEALS!!! It slows your metabolism big time. 5 small meals are better that 3 medium, or even small ones!

Then of corse there is the topic of low fat... yeah, good idea, cut it where you can, but more important than that is low SUGAR. Sugar gives you automatic energy, so your body doesn't use it's reserves! Bad, bad, bad! You want to burn off those 30 lbs, make your body work for it! You can do without that sugar low too. Stay below 5g per serving when you read lables!

And lastly, exercise- duh...you knew that though. Get your heart rate up for 30 to 45 minuts 3 to 6 times a week! You can do this all with diet, but do you want to? If you are already doing aerobic exercise, and are at a plateau, swich it up. Use weights- try 3 sets of 15 to 20 reps per exercise. This will keep your mass down, but will tone you from the inside out.

You probably have heard most of this before, but if I stress nothing else, I stress that SUGAR IS BAD and eat a grain in the am- best advice I can give you! Hope it helps! ;)

sure it is... they are all natural forms of carbs and fiber and of course vitamins and minerals just be careful of how many fruits and what kind you eat because they too can be high in sugar

Yeah- they are ok, but don't overdo it on the bananas- save them for a post workout boost. They are higher cals and sugar. The really bad sugar is what is added to food, not what was already there. Also watch sugar in white breads, pastas...

:)

Thanks for the info!

Hello, thank you. I do eat a half of banana in my oatmeal in the morn and the other half before workout. I do this because, i tend to get a cramp on my left side while on treadmill, and someone told me to eat a banana. I also never have liked white bread and probably have not ate it in 6 or 8 months. I eat maybe 2-3 pieces of bread total a week (whole grain or wheat).
My diet looks like this:
Breakfast: 3-4egg whites
1/4 cup oatmeal w/ 1tsp. almond butter,1tsp. flaxseed oil and1/2 banana
snack: small salad w/ chicken or tuna
lunch: tuna or chiken, 1/4 cup brown rice
snack: 1 or 2 tsp peanut butter
dinner: steak, fish, or chicken w/ a green veggie and sometimes a med size sweet potato.
snack: if i have one i usally eat a half piece of chicken breast and a tsp of peanut butter.
I drink lots of water a gatorade a day and sometimes ice tea w/o sugar.
If this sounds like to much please let me know.

do you take a multi vitamin or eat any other fruits/ veggies besides the green ones? And what type of gatoraid do you use? Watch the sugar content in that one- depending on how much/ often you drink it. Plain ol' water is often better- esp with weight loss in mind. Also I noticed a lot of peanut butter. What kind do you eat. I eat a lot too- the natural stuff though. No Jiff or Peter Pan- hydrogenated oils are not such a great fat. If you don't like Nat peanut butter, try popping some plain almonds and some berries as a snack. Also consider some plain, fat free yogurt. Lots of calcium, 11 grams of protein and only 120ish calories! It is such a great food! Also, the live cultures in it are great for your dygestive system!

Don't know if you want or need all this info, but It's kind of a passion for me. :) I hope it helps some.

Good point....I take a multi-mineral and a multi-vitamin each night before bed. If you are wanting to lose weight I would cut out more fat such as the steak and peanut butter. Stick to lean protein sources....(you could replace the peanut butter with a shake.) Also, cut out any carbs late at night...and sugar such as the gatorade. These small changes should help you meet your goal. :)

there is an interesting thing that i learned in anatomy class about the low carb fad. Fat is burned more efficiently in the presence of carbohydrates (not sure why yet, but we are getting there). instead of just cutting carbs, lower your entire caloric intake and cut the bad shit like simple sugars, saturated fats and high sodium foods.

Thanks for the info!

I eat both natural and regular peanut butter but, only 2 tsp's a day if that. And i eat mainly chicken, for dinner but, i do treat myself to a steak 1 or 2 times a week. i do take a mutiple vitamin and also a teaspoon of flaxseed oil in the morning. I absolutly hate protein shakes but, i hear that there is one that taste good. I think it is called myoplex or something like that. I also hear it is pretty pricey. D oes any one have any suggestions about a brand that tastes good?

Thaks again!

there is one that i am taking right now called Pro whey, or something like that, i just get chocolate and throw a banana in the blender with it in the morning and it tastes great to me.

you know- you seem to be on the right track simply because you are so diet concious. Read articles here and there (i find good ones in "men's fitness") and you'll learn more and more- we all do. Like I said before- and QBMuscle seems to agree- carbs are not bad but rather, they are very nessisary for propper metabolization of fules!!! Simple sugars are "bad carbs", so WATCH FOR SUGAR CONTENT IN THOSE PROTIEN SHAKES!!! I like MET-RX shakes ok (and they are reasonably priced), but then again I drink in really fast! That is the trick for me. Find one that you like for dietary reasons- mix it with a lot of water and drink it the moment you have it mixed!

Just try to eat fruits, vegetables, beans that's it.Two or three times a day.First select the proper combination of diet then imply it on routine basis.Do some physical games with this which makes your body able to burn your fat in proper and quick way.

You just need to cut out the sugars, fats and dairies and keep the protein, ruf***e and water high. Eat every 3-4 hours all day and even at night. Workout and do cardio and you should be successful.
