Do you consider bodybuilding a sport?

It depends on how you define a sport I suppose. IMHO it is the purest form of a sport. Anyone can walk into a gym, regardless of race, gender, creed, religion, education, etc. and give it 100% and be the best they can be. It is a constant and continual competition against yourself (and others if you choose). Tbe the best requires as much, if not more, devotion and sacrifice than any other 'sport' I can think of. To me, that makes it almost the epitome of a sport.

Great definition!

Not a sport. More like a competitive event such as poker, billiards, horseshoes, etc... I understand that it is devotion and training and seen some how competitive against the next guy but so is my job and it is not a sport. Besides, tanning oil and speedos are not considered athletic equipment.

actually speedos are considered athletic equipment my friend....its called part of a uniform for swimming and water polo. Granted there aren't really teams in bodybuilding, it technically is still part of the uniform.

According to Merriam-Webster online dictionary, sport is:

a : a source of diversion : recreation
b : sexual play
c (1) : physical activity engaged in for pleasure
(2) : a particular activity (as an athletic game) so engaged in

So, it certainly falls under both a and c.

Absolutely. It requires skill in training, diet, and posing. Dedication at all times. God given predisposition to make it to the top. Those guys sacrifice everything to make where they are. A sport requires real effort and dedication, not just a ball. If you're going to consider Golf a sport, how could anyone not consider bodybuilding a sport. If anything it is the most pure sport. There are no artificial limitations on how far you go, unlike the ban on PEDs in other sports allowing the few who have access to undetectable drugs to gain a substantial unfair advantage.
I want to see the absolute pinnacle of human performance including aids made through science. Where else do you find this?
