For most of us, setting goals and then reaching them is how we continue to progress. For me personally a few stick out. I wanted to bench 350lbs - I did that at 16 and set our high school bench press record. I then wanted to be 200lbs with perfect abs. Got that at 18. Next was 225lbs. That was a couple years ago ( had a lapse where I was happy with my condition). Now it's hit a hard dense 260lbs. Not there yet. My final (currently) is to win the overall in a well known National Qualifier. What about you guys??

It's funny you started this thread because I was just going to post something similar in the girl's forum. Dude, you already know my goals, but for those of you who don't let me share...I've always wanted to look like a girl who LIFTS WEIGHTS. Not "Silk looks good" or "Silk looks like she's in good shape" NO! I want to look like I got some muscle on me and can keep up with you guys in the gym :show: Well, I kinda knew I reached my goal, but it became crystal clear just 15 min ago. I was leaving the grocery store after my workout and not a single Girl Scout asked if I want to buy their cookies!!! They didn't ask when I walked in or when I walked out! I'd like to think they took one look at me and figured they wouldn't waste their breath. That's when i knew I reached my goal  Now on to my next goal.

Mine was to bench 300. I got that when I was 18. Since then it was to weigh 180, which I didn't get until I found this site. Now my goal is to hit 200 pounds and bench 300 again.

Good thread man. My goals started at 16 yo when I ordered that bull shit out of the back of my mothers enquire magazine," Charles Atlas" add with the guy getting sand kicked in his face. Got some home body weight resistance exercises and a pack of horse vitamins. At 18 yo I was 5'11 and 129lbs sopping wet. I looked like a cancer patient. Plus I had an older brother always beating the shit out of me which didn't help the self confidence or self esteem. I used to wear baggy shirts and pants cause I thought they made me look "normal" or what I thought normal was for a guy. Plus, being so skinny I had a spontaneous pneumothoracix. My lung collapsed from not having enough surfactant to function, plus dehydration.
I had 2 rounds of pneumonia, and frequently had bronchitis. I caught every cold bug being passed around. I stayed sick. I had to gain 5 lbs to join the Air Force cause I was under the minimal weight/height standards. Then i got sick in basic training, bronchitis again, lost more weight, and had mandatory meals, extra meals, cause i had to be back up to the minimum weight to graduate basic. Being underweight is as much as a health risk as being overweight, but somehow society and medical community don't treat the underweight, but will sure as hell treat overweight.

I'm at 204 with today's morning weigh in!!!! My goal is to get as big as Nuk, Dude, and Presser.
I think I have a bad case of body dysmorphic syndrome, no I know I do, cause when I look in the mirror , I still see 129 lb guy. When people comment on my size or weight, I literally do not believe them.

I can remember hitting the gym at 19 yr old and my goal was to bench more than the 45lb bar. In 2006, I was stationed in Turkey, and had a bud that worked in the emergency room with me, and he was a serious lifter, and we started working out seriously for a year, and I gained a quality 25 lbs that year. I had enough confidence to wear a speedo on the beach in Turkey. No flamers, everyone wears a speedo at the beach overseas! Hell in Italy they barely wear anything. Women go topless!!!!

Most of my goals have always been strength oriented. I set a goal to bench 405 did that. I set a goal to bench 225 for 30 reps, did that. I set a goal to dead lift 595, did that and I set a goal to squat 595 and I have done that.

My goals now and totally different. I want to lose 25 plus pounds and be able to run 5 miles with no issues. I want to be more athletic.

You are a thick fucker! It's hard to believe that you were ever skinny. I think you'll look awesome and be much happier doing the Crossfit training.

I have had alot of goals in the gym bench press 300 pounds I hit that. Getting 405 I did that.. The one goal that I always wanted was to get to 270.. But I only got to 260.. But the only goal that I have in life is to take care of my two little boys.. And raise them to treat people like they would want to be treated.. As long as they become good young men.. I hit my main goal !!!

Now that's a real goal! You've got your priorities straight. If more people were like you we wouldn't have such a screwed up society

Thanks Dude.. They are the only thing that matters to me in this point in my life...

I've only had a few goals when it came to bodybuilding and powerlifting. I've given up on all bodybuilding goals because I've realized I'll never reach them. But the other goals were to hit 200 lbs then to squat 500, deadlift 500 and bench double my weight (I'm a horrible bencher). I've not reached 200 lbs or deadlifted 500, but the others I've hit so I'll work on the other 2 because I'm close to pulling 500
