Does anyone watch this when it comes on ESPN? My buddy is a professional poker player now and he's actually one of the last 139 players left in the Main Event. He's doing pretty well and I'm hoping to see him on TV when this stuff starts to air. It'd be even better if he wins the whole thing and brings that $8 million+ back this way lol

Yeah, I watch it every once in a while. How many players are left when they start to air the tournament? I hope your friend makes it in the top. Is he a close enough friend that he might throw a party your invited to, and you know...share the wealth little?

I watched it when they first started airing it but lost interest in it.

Used to a little .. Now if I knew someone in it I'd watch more to make sure I knew when And if to call and say how's it going my best friend in the whole world like it sounds you are going to do..lol...

I watch it. I played poker for a living for a little over a year. It's tough. A tourney that big luck comes into play prolly more than skill. For a pro to make it that for is awesome. It's like knowing you can beat up 3,000 people one on one. Then trying to fight them all at once...

They have the November 9 which is live now, but I'm not sure when they start airing the Main Event on ESPN this year. He went out in 136th place last night. Had pocket Q's and ran up against pocket K's. He had roughly $700k in chips and would've been sitting quite nicely had he won that hand, but he didn't so he still got $52k for his efforts. And yes, had he won, he's close enough to invite me to the party and would definitely throw some money this way or at least pay for everything I wanted

You're absolutely right, for the first 3 days or so it's more luck than skill, then once you get down to the serious players it becomes a little more skill than luck. A lot of people are just playing reckless the first couple of days to build a huge stack and get out ahead (kind of like a marathon competitor sprinting off the jump then slowing down and falling to the back)

Nah, I wouldn't call and bug him, but I'll certainly get ahold of him when he comes back this way lol. Needless to say when he got his first big payout, we had a hell of a time on New Year's Eve. I felt guilty having him pay for everything so I picked up the tab and then the next time he refused to let me pay for anything. I guess that showed him that I wasn't just around him for the money
