Athletes to Watch
Below are potential favorites to pay attention to during callouts:
Emmanuel Costa
Costa represents Brazil and was the 2022 Arnold South America Amateur winner. He won his pro debut that same season at the 2022 Musclecontest Mercosul Pro. Even though Costa qualified for the 2022 Olympia, he didn’t compete. The Sur Cup Pro Chile contest is his first opportunity to requalify for the 2023 Olympia contest.
Ramses Rams
This bodybuilder from Spain is one of the veterans in the lineup. He competed in the 2021 Men’s Physique Olympia, where he placed outside of the top 15. He won the Chicago Pro that same season. This is Rams’ sixth pro season and his first pro show of the 2023 season. Should he win, it will be his third career pro victory.

Alejandro Landeros
The host country has one athlete representing it: Alejandro Landeros. Landeros turned pro at the 2019 Arnold South America Amateur show. He made his pro debut in 2022.
Landeros finished outside of the top 15 in the Miami Muscle Beach Pro and took 13th at the Mile High Pro. This will be his first pro show in front of his fellow countrymen. If Landeros can score a high finish and potentially podium, expect plenty of noise from local fans in attendance.
Other Notes
The other two IFBB pro shows taking place are in North America: The 2023 New York Pro is in Teaneck, NJ, and the 2023 Optimum Classic Pro is in Shreveport, LA. They are both scheduled for Saturday, May 20. The winners of those shows will also qualify for the 2023 Men’s Physique Olympia to challenge reigning champion Erin Banks for the throne.
