In the old days the spotter would boot you in the head - that had a way of making
the weight move - lol

Thanks glad you noticed it was my bday , would have been nice to get 280 the day before my day that way I could say I got 280 while I was 18.

Yeah that was me , my friend was recording it with his camera phone , the only thing I like about the video is the movement of the bar going down , perfectly straight. Other than that , he could have atleast have got my face and everything from getting up off the bench.

That's great bro...Keeping hitting the iron and you'll hit your goal soon enough. Again very impressive for your size. It took me until I was at least 20 before I could bench 275. Within a year or so of that I was hitting it hard and was able to bench 275lbs for 8-10 reps on the incline for multiple sets.

I'm not sure what your goals are n_nighmare and I don't mean to be overly critical, but my suggestion would be to place more emphasis on your form rather than the amount of weight lifted. Unless you're training for some type of powerlifting or bench press contest that is. If you're a bodybuilder the only thing one rep maxes are going to get you is injured. Before the weight is even off the rack your back is shaped like a rainbow, once you hurt that good luck training any body part. It's great that you have a goal to strive for, just don't hurt yourself trying to get there.

I must say his formed looked good to me.
He didnt try to cheat to make the lift or anything. Having a spotter there helps but alot of guys will "do the snake" to get that lift up. He never gave up form, even after failure.

An injury would suc but at your age its probably not going to happen. Its perfectly fine to max out and fail. Anyone who tells you that adding powerlifting into your regular exercise won't help in putting on mass is simply wrong. Peace

thats impressive bro. Im 26, and my max is 285 for 2 on the incline, so if i were you i would be happy where you are at. Stick with it and you'll progress bigtime!

Thanks everybody , I am thinking about becoming a nutritionist/dietician. I dont know that much about the education needed so I am going to be spending some time researching it , and finding out if thats the field I want to fall into.

I was also maybe thinking about going into the nutritional field through the military and ideas , suggestions , information , or feedback?

I gotta agree with azmodeous. I wish I would have learned this when I was 18 because I put so much energy into my "max bench" that I never actually accomplished much body wise. Once I stopped doing "max" lifts and started to focus on more weight or more reps I actually got to the point where I was lifting more and more and getting bigger and bigger. I actually went up about 100lbs in lifts in about a year. Some lifts more like 150lbs and I'm talking about multiple reps and sets. I know where you are at though and people like to throw around their big numbers like it should make or break a person. It shouldn't be like that. I injured myself at 18 trying to max out on bench, squats, and dead lift. I messed up my spine pretty bad so now I look forward to a lifetime of pain and nagging injuries.
