 lol, You're all gonna slap me for this but I'm getting out of the Irongame, yes midway through my first cycle. I'll outline the reasoning below.
I'm sure some of you know this but last summer and a few years before that I had been a competitive triathlete. My race weight for triathlons was 150 pounds at 5'10". This winter I went up to 185 pounds of pretty solid muscle. Thought I might give bodybuilding a real try
Loved having the muscle. However...
Well I just finished my first triathlon of the season this weekend and I got rocked. I came out of the swim a couple minutes behind the leaders and was 8th in my category going into transition 1. Doing pretty well. I tore off my wetsuit in record time, threw on the helmet and shot out onto the bike course. I tried to keep up with the pack just in front of me but I got dropped.... Hard.... I couldn't keep pace with the pack and I kept falling behind until the gap was too big, they went into the first hill climb and were halfway up by the time I hit the bottom. Halfway up the hill is when it hit me. Carrying an extra 35 pounds uphill is not easy, especially when you havent' trained cardio at all for 8 months because you were trying to bulk up instead....... I went into Transition 2 hoping to gain some ground on the run, I racked my bike, threw on my running shoes and I didn't even take 4 steps before I felt like my legs were ready to give out. The hills on the bike course had broken me down and I had to fight the entire way just to keep a moderate pace on the run. I had my ass handed to me this weekend and I need to compete in triathlons again. I need to be competetive.
I'll still going to lift weights but I'm going to be focusing my training on triathlon specific weight training and not on heavy weight lifting or bodybuilding.
I will also definatley be sticking to the dark side but I'm going to be researching cycles for endurance athletes now
Goals for this season is to get back to where I was last year by the end of summer, train hardcore over the winter with the help of the darkside and hopefully compete as an elite level triathlete next year. We'll just have to wait and see how fast I can get back down to 150! Yes, you heard me! My goal weight is 150!
Change Of Plans For This Cycle:
Finish At Week 10 as originally planned.
250mg / Test
200mg / Deca
Save everything else for future cycles.
If anyone has some info on the kinds of gear that are most beneficial to endurance athletes let me know!
I've heard EQ or Winny.
Anything that can increase my red blood cell count.
Oh, also, does anyone know how hard to get EPO is? Should I even bother trying to find it locally or is it one of those impossible to find things?
Thanks!
LOL, btw, I have some pics of me in my sleevless wetsuit coming out of the water, I'll try to upload them soon. I look ridiculously big compared to all the other triathletes around me. Compared to most of the bro's here on the board I'm not that big but compared to those triathletes I'm a tank right now! (Soon to change)
