My pops has a nice 10 speed schwinn he doesnt ride anymore. We have a trail up about 20 miles from my house that goes around a lake for 9 miles. Im thinking of hauling that thing up there and cruisin around 18 miles once or twice a week. Anybody else ride for cardio? Mountain biking isnt really a good option for me Id probably break the bike lol, So im thinking 18 miles at a good pace on pavement and going up from there would be pretty good to mix up the cardio.

I would if I had a bike right now. I used to have one years ago and loved it. In the winter I'd put it on a special training wheel that I borrowed from my sister that allowed the back wheel to spin so I could "ride" it inside.

I always put a card in the back spoke so it sounds like a motorcycle.

I have contemplate a mountain bike. I live fifteen minutes from a trail that is suppose to be one of the 20 best in the us. I also got into bmx racing in my twenties for a while. It is good cardio and in my opinion better than standing in the same place watching Oprah on the tv from the treadmill beside you.

yeah i hear that i have a GT bump in my garage right now that i used to run bmx on. Rough terrain wouldnt be good for me right now hell i cant even run right now because of my knees. Im thinkin just like 18 miles at a decent pace would be pretty good to mix it up. I agree much better then watching oprah haha.

I bought a haro monocoque when I was in it. What got me out is that my friend fell and broke his hip and another friend destroyed his shoulder. I kept seeing myself broken on the ground so I got out. I still have a card in my spokes.

I ride outdoors occassionally for cardio but it's easier to monitor yourself at the gym

thats kinda why i was wanting to do it to be honest. Just a couple days a week at a good pace without worrying about heartrate etc. would be nice.

BTW good to see you around mikey

I got into riding a lot when I first move up here to the mountains. But I don't do it much anymore. I prefer to hike or a very slow job up the trails...it just takes too much leg work for me to ride up those things on a bike. But I think it's a very good switch up for cardio, plus riding around town...plus if you get some pegs put on it, you can pick up chicks!!!!!

mountain biking is balls out hitt. I dropped 40lbs one summer doing just that 3x's a week.

I used to ride my mountain bike around my neighborhood and town streets. I would do alot of curb pops and ollies and shit, lol.

people would come up to me and say "I saw ya the other day riding your bike, why dont you just drive?" They act like its sac-religious to walk or bike anywhere when you have a car.

cycling on a bike , depending on your speed, resistance, etc..

1 and 1/2 hrs on a bike is equivalent to 45min on a tred on a incline
