Ok first and formost im writing this here to see if anyone else experienced this scam and also so i can put this down on paper/text to cut and paste and send to our local news and also some of those dateline/60 minutes type shows.

Bank of america has been doing this to me for years and i just caught on.

Yesterday as with many other times this happened, i had $110 in the bank and instantly charged $65 leaving me with $45 and i checked my online banking to make sure it went through and it did and even showed me a balance of 45$. Now today a check went through for $195 which would have bounced as i only had $45 balance from yesterday. so i should have incurred a $35 bounce check charge.

However bank of America when I checked online today changed the order in which the two debits came out they put the check for 195$ in front of yesterdays debit of $65. So it showed my original balance of $110 then the check came out of 195$ which is 1 bounce fee then they put through the 65$ chargew so now there are 2 bounced fees. Those fuckers changed around the order in which debits came out making the bigestst debit first so two items would bounce nbot just one item,

I am so fucking angry cause once again i didnt print out yesterday online banking session showing that $65 came out yesterday showing the $45 balance . it doesnt even look like that now in my online banking, they made it look like the original ammount of 110$ was there today and then the check for $195 came out making me negatibe and incurring bounce fee and then shows the $65 debit come out leaving me another bounce fee. They are scam artists and I hope someone listens to me at the local news, im fuming over years of this shit

i hate c.c. companies and banks..
on the other hand, im not sure how often you may overdraft, but it has happen to me a few time with the same card and i call them and usually they will waive fees, ecspecially if you have more than one, i would bet they will drop all but one if not all. good luck

My bank did this very same thing to the tune of $300 dollars in fee's because they changed the date of the transactions and then when I fought with them about it they say they do it in the order of largest transaction to smallest regardless of the date of the "check card" transaction. It is fucking bullshit. I should've had maybe 1 NSF fee not 7 or 8. I was getting tagged 37.50 for small $2 to 4 dollar charges because they put it in a fucked up order.

Also in regards to getting them take off charges the couple of times this has happened they have usually taken off about 1/2 of the fee's. It was a major pain in the ass to even have them do that though. I had to wait for the branch manager to come in and fight over these charges.

I work at a bank...

I think it's bullshit too, and they're excuse for this is that they figure the larger items are more important, like a mortgage payment, car loan, etc. so they try to pay those first, and let the smaller stuff go through after. So you end up with a $25 or $35 fee PER ITEM!!LOL I work at a bank, and have been screwed like that too.LOL Banks make hundreds of thousands of dollars income a year in fees alone. Bank of America and U.S. Bank are some of the worst in my opinion. I get customers in here switching all of the time because of their poor customer service and sneaky fees. I usually try to refund any fees if I can, they make too much damn money on that shit. And now to make matters worse, they change the dates on some of those transactions, so that if you write a check and it goes through, they will go back and post it on the day that you wrote it, or if you ran your check card they will go back and post it on that day, instead of when it gets back to the bank. It's no wonder people are confused.

I just went through this and I got rammed with $375 of fees for charges that were $8-$15. I don't understand how they can fuck over customers especially now in these economic conditions.

bro, BoA has done this to me numerous times...the first time they refunded the fees though. i hate them, but am too lazy to switch banks..

Just FYI for you

I don't know how it works at all banks, but most will give you a refund if you ask for it. Just talk to one of the financial reps at a desk. Just don't go up with an attitude, just tell them you didn't know how this worked, or you made a mistake or whatever and usually you can get something. I regularly do a one time courtesy refund for customers or if they just didn't understand how the system worked I'll get them a one time refund. Just depends on who you get I guess. Some people are assholes, and I don't know how Bank of America is, I've heard their customer service is terrible. People make mistakes, and I at least try to meet them half way and get rid of fees for charges that were smaller transactions for a few bucks here and there.

Also...

Ask about overdraft protection. You can link a credit card or savings account to your checking account so that if you overdraft it will pull from the other account, and the fees are much less.

thats what happened to my girl. It cost her like $30 for a 2 dollar coffee!!

I think all banks do the same thing. Wells Fargo does it to me, too.

i too had issues with b of a .
since i went with washington mutual its been ok however there in trouble with that morgage crap now so im not keeping any good amount in any bank right now

I hate BofA. They have tried to pull bullshit w/me also. Try any local credit unions.
I am in two and the main difference is THEY AINT TRYING TO F#*K YOU!!!!

They know they have us by the balls and there isn't a thing we'll do about it. We give the banks our money in an interest earning checking account or savings account and they give us a measly 2 or 3% interest, but if we take some of their money in the form of a loan or credit card (which is really just someone else's money anyway) they charge us anywhere up to 20% or more.

Do you ever wonder what would happen if everyone walked into their banks on the same day and withdrew everything and closed all accounts? hahaha It would be chaos!!!

There is no way to beat the man, except to become the man. Sorry, but that's the sad truth.

Take your money OUT of your 'savings' account that doesn't even keep up with inflation (meaning money left in savings is LOSING worth over time), and start investing in real estate and other options with higher returns to beat inflation and make real money.

Hey Presser, you could always open a saftey deposite box and put in fish or shellfish.
Let them figure it out in about a month.

Well i been makimng operiodic copys of my online banking and i just found this and pricted it out incase they bounce me for shit, they clearly moved my most expensive debit to the top of the order so that all my smaller debits would bounce, i got them fianly!

here's a good one for you, this was done to me by Chase Credit card a few times...
the due date will be for the 15th of the month, so i will overnight a check to them on the 13th and someone will sign for it (received on the 14th)
then they will charge me $45 for a late fee

when I call bitching they say that the late fee is because the check wasn't cashed until the 16th-well you received it on the 14th

"well we don't go by when we receive but when we cash it"
so what I hear is that you can hold a check as long as you want and then gack me for the late fee as you see fit?

"uh yeah something like that"

IT'S BULLSHIT

This is interesting. I actually belong to Navy Federal Credit Union and the way they do it is the exact opposite. They ALWAYS go out of their way to put deposits ahead of ALL pending transactions. This means I could go nuts all weekend overdrafting my ass off and as long as I have a deposit in the branch before close on Monday, I'll incur 0 fees (so long as the deposit is enough to cover everything).

I have a credit card with capital one that does the same thing. I've gone over my credit limit a million times and as long as I make a payment before the transactions post (usually 3 business days), I'll be good to go because they put the deposit first.

So you guys should do your banking and loans with credit unions and/or capital one;)
