Anyone else noticing this lately in the grocery stores? I try to get grass fed beef but our local guy stopped raising. He is old and decided to retire. I have about 3 months worth in the deep freeze but the wife and I went to the store and ground beef/skirt steak.. the worst beef cuts available, is at least $5 a lb. I'll stick to chicken and fish for a while. That is just crazy. I am not spending $9lb for a cut of beef. Did I sleep through some beef crisis? :surprised

no they are blaming it on the drought in California-all food prices will be going up again in the next 3-6 months they have already said this too

what state are you living in? just curious about the difference in prices

Yeah dude no joke I don't even buy turkey for sandwiches anymore. Just bulk chicken breast. Fucking shitty pot roast cut of beef is like $4.69 lb. It's bullshit.

I'm in Utah. I dont know how the drought in California effects me here or you wherever you are. Many other states have beef cows I'm sure. I dont know man, raise the cost of everything but keep wages the same. Last time that happened, it was a fuel crisis. It's always some excuse. Time for me to buy my own land and raise my own food.

that pretty much hits the nail on the head, watch the Weather Channel...if there is a cloud in the sky they tell us we're all going to die

jack up the prices and get people to panic buy

brotha you ain't kidding. I'm in the restaurant business myself and cost of grocieries is a killer. but beer is the worst. most kegs when we opened 5 years ago were around $75 each. now we're lucky to get anything under $120. It's a racket for sure. I could go on but I'll only get more pissed off.

I fortunately live in the back woods and can hunt seasonal meats like deer and turkey. We are eventually going to buy a beef cow and have it slaughtered for our beef. I have found it to be the most economical way for us to stock the freezer.

how much can you get from slaughtering your own cow? is that a lot of meat?

i know they put those fins pellets in the ears of some cattle right before they go to slaughter to beef them up! so i was always curious just how much meat one can get from their own full grown cow

We can get 350 to 400 lbs it all depends. Everybody around us has cows some are grass fed and others are not.

We used to go to Sams Club to get meat but since we live so far out the gas alone was not cost effective. Once in a great while we still go to buy bulk items that last us...

depends on whether it's a steer or heifer, how much it weighed before slaughter

where it's pure grass feed and all natural etc

main thing is to trust the guy your buying it from and to trust the butcher and slaughter house, or they will charge you for a young steer or heifer and give you meat from an old steer-you'll end up loosing a tooth trying to chew that rubbery shit up

unless you know them or know someone that does, don't trust them because they are like mechanics they will fuck you every chance they get

Geezus is their no industry that isn't corrupted lol, everyones out to fuck one another, wtf

My luck they'd sell me Mad Cow Diseased Meat!

The good thing here where I live is that everybody knows everybody. And if somebody fucks somebody over the shit hits the wind and it gets around pretty quick.

that's OK I'm sure the Dept of Agriculture regulates the Meat dept just like the FDA regulates Big Pharm

they take handouts every day behind closed doors while people get sick and die and tell you everything will be alright

the meat industry is only a $150 billion year industry

what are you going to do? eat fish, chicken, pork? guess who regulates that? get your protein from protein shakes? NOBODY regulates the supplement industry

FUCK!!! just get a ol' Big Mac and enjoy being a healthy fat slob:pleased:

Same thing here man. When hunting season starts I'm hardly ever out doing anything else. Then people ask me why I kill so many deer and my response is because its free meat jackass.

We just got a half of a beef and average out to about 2.60 a pound. Going to the store to get beef will out your pockets fast.
