Body fat % how do u measure yours

Just wondering how most you guys measure your bf %.
Do you do the skin folds technique with calipers?
 
I don't. I have a scale that supposedly measures body fat, muscle, water and bone but I know it's not right. It tells me I am 5% body fat and I am definitely higher than that. :( I usually just judge by the mirror and don't worry too much about what the number is. As long as I feel and look lean, that's good enough for me.
 
I go by the mirror too i have one of those scales lol and it told me last week i was 29% haha. It just depends on how much water you drink i think. If i were 29% right now id have like 120 pounds of lbm lol.
 
I have one of those scales, as well... it tells me that I'm at 28%. lol. One of the girls at the gym, who's a trainer, tends to think that I'm in the mid-teens. I'd say she's about right. Probably 13-15%, I'm guessing.

Those scales don't really work unless they are the top end kind that you find in hospitals. You really do get what you pay for. Otherwise, doing an average skinfold calipers on about 7 locations is pretty good.

That's what I figured. What I think is curious though, is how does it calculate everything. I know it's bioelectric impedance, but it calculates BF%, muscle %, water % and bone %. If you were to get on naked, and then get dressed and step back on your bioelectric impedance hasn't changed but the weight has, so what kind of algorithms does it use to figure out what % belongs where? Anyone know how they work?
 
I just like to keep seeing my cheapo $40 scale telling me I'm getting leaner and leaner. Sure it says i'm 26.8% tonight, but that's lower than I was a week ago on it. lol
 
I dont care how much you spend on them i dont think they are very accurate. Ive used one at my old gym that cost them like 300 bucks or some shit and it was way off too. I was clipped at like 12.5% and it read 25 point something.
 
Parrillo Performance method was designed for bodybuilding, i have been working with it for over 20 years and it is the best tool to show that the skin is going down i the trouble areas.
For instance If you are ab out to compete if your lower back is at 12 mm you better hurry up to get that below 6 to make your lower back look dry otherwise you will look like you didnt do your diet. Some people look great in pictures or in person and sometimes you think they are ready to go onstage bu some points are high and its when you see them holding water or a little off.
I have a fat guy that on his first measurement i couldnt take his reading on the lower back, the caliper only goes up to 80 mm, it dont even fit so i go for an 80 plus, and it was on the 3rd week when he measured 70mm.
That only mean that he is doing his diet and he can see results in numbers and it is not only numbers because he feels his pants loosed, so that is my tool to measure all my clients every week.
It gives you the amount of muscle you gained so it is true as well because most of then are gaining stronger and harder, so calipers work so far very good for me.
If you are my online client and i just see you on pictures when i compare what i see on the pics with your caliper readings i know where you at.
Also tells me if you did your diet or not, if you cheat and also if you skip meals, it is like a report of what you did and what you didnt do during the week. check my guy louis
