I'm wanting to get other people's opinions on this situation and whether you guys think my gym owner did the right thing or not.

Ok, this kid is on a bodybuilding forum where he has a video blog and all that good shit. Well last week he had his dad and a friend come into the gym to spot and video tape him. The gym owner charged both of them the $5 daily charge for being in the gym. He does this for EVERYONE who is in the gym for any reason other than just to check it out to see if they want to join. The kid knew this before hand, but still bitched about it and threw a fit. His membership was up today and he made the comment that because his dad and friend were charged to come into the gym to help him he wasn't renewing his membership. Again this goes for ANYONE that comes into the gym. They all drove different vehicles so they took up parking spots (our parking lot isn't that big to begin with), they occupied more than just the equipment the kid was using. I don't think it was such a big deal because the owner does this to everyone who brings someone in to video tape them or whatever the reason may be.

Would you guys be mad if you were the kid or do you support this?

i think most gyms charge atleast 5 dollars so where else is he going to go? if he has a key and 24/7 access then he can get them to tape him at midnight to save a little money but to me its not worth it so i think they should charge and what does he think he is special or something hell most the people that pay would be bitching if they didnt pay. one of my gyms charges 10 dollars and i have paid it cuz they have a pool which my kids have wanted to swim while i workout

If he does it for everyone I think he should have held his ground. You let one guy slide and you open a
can of worms. Also, how much advertiement was the gym going to get. lol Probably none. Hope the hot
headed kid has another gym local as good. Kid knew it going in, quit your bitchin. I just rejoined my gym
for a year. It is a decent price. could probably get a little better deal elsewhere but this is the last REAL GYM
in the area. Owned by great guy and his wife (they have two kids) I am a cheap bastard but some people I
dont mind giving my money to if its a fair deal. He wanted to give me 2 extra months for free. I told him no
but he put it on there anywhat. My point is, if its a fair deal you shouldnt bitch about paying.

Depends on what the gym has done for the kid and what the kid has done for the gym...

If he has brought a ton of members and bought supplements all the time and spent money, etc..and the people taping came once a month say, they should come in free.

If the kid does nothing for the gym, has never brought in traffic, doesn't support the gym in buying supplements, etc..then by all means charge him.

Well the only thing the gym sells are protein shakes, speed stacks, and a couple other drinks from ABB. He's not someone that will take anyone with him when he leaves so I don't think he'll ne missed. Pkus ot's the best hardcore gym around so I know he'll be back eventually once he sees that he is missing out. The videos do not mention the gym at all or endorse it so I think he should pay or maybe he should have just had some guys with memberships help him out. Needless to say it cost him $10 to get videos done, he's sponsored by fat gripz and some nutrition company so he's getting something out of the videos

i agree with what wesley said, but $5 aint shit, some places in my area charge like 15 to workout. he also could have asked ahead of time if he can have someone help him with a few things but will not be working out.

the gym did the right thing. Let the kid throw a fit, he will get over it. Crying over $10, lol!

$5 is cheap...but every gym i've worked at we've always charged everyone if they were staying in for any REAL amount of time...you have to consider that they could trip and get hurt and the money is really an insurance fee

It's a business not make a wish foundation, that brat should be thankful they only charged him $5, that's cheap my gym charges $15 and my other charges $20 for a day pass. Silly kid gyms are for grown up

Good to see everyone agrees. I thought it was the right thing to do. I mean we have a very high ranked powerlifter training there and he evens pays the same amount for a gym membership and gets his people charged if he brings someone in to spot or video tape him training. I think it comes back to kids thinking they are entitled to shit
