There is a guy at the gym - has all the cool workout gear but dosent look
like he has ever worked out. He is always writing in his log book and has
one guy who he trains. I dont really pay attention but the other day he
is in the squat rack next to me telling everyone how he is going for a squat
record -365 lbs. Heaviest he has ever done. A few guys get around to
watch - I'm looking also cus this guy dont look like he can squat 225.
He get's the bar off the rack, breath's real loud and hard, starts the squat!
His knees bend and he goes down about 3/4 of a inch and then his back
starts leaning forward to about a 45% angle. Then he straighten's up his
back and his legs come up the 3/4 of a inch and he locks his knees and
reracks. Everyone is quiet for a second (I think they were in shock) then
they look at each other and start to clap and tell him "lookin strong bro"..
ect. The rest of the time I was there he was struting around like he was
king of the gym. (and this gym has quite few competitors) Thought I'd
pass it on cus I havent seen anything so pathetic in a long time. lol

I seen a kid doin that the other day, he loaded up the 45s and I was impressed until I seen his form. Same thing as you described. Hell he didnt go down but 3 inches at most! And he was in front of a mirror, Duh...

I believe that the mathematical definition of work is weight X distance. So it does not matter how much weight is on the bar. If the bar only moves 3/4 of an inch, you aint workin' sh*t. But I swear it seems like 50% of the people in my gym believe that form and full reps don't matter as long as there is a 1/2 ton on the bar.

It's a good feeling when you catch people staring at your squats cuz you drop it so damn low. I think they all know they have shitty form, but hate to sacrifice the weight to improve it. People seriously need to check their egos at the door when they step in the gym... they'll end up making far better progress less any needless injuries.

That dumbass will blow a disc at 45 degree angle. Some people are so stupid. Maybe his 3" squat will help his 3" pecker grow just my 2 cents

WOW - 3 plus 3 equals 2 LOL

Sounds like another idiot got into the gym, McG. I wonder where they get their info on form--if they get any at all. I see kids doing that at my gym, too.

lamo, Im gonna start doing 3" squats!

You always want to advise so they don't get injured, but after a while, it gets annoying because they take it personally. Unless they are paying me, I don't advise- I don't like the attitude.

I love it when the idiots try to correct you on something - I always like to say
"If I do it like that for 6 months will I look like you" - they always walk away with
their tail between their legs - Mabey that is why most of them avoid me - LOL

lately, guess cause its summer, Ive been seeing ALOT of the 3" bench presses.

theres no point in telling them they are effectively limiting the most important part of the exercise.
"how those lockouts going buddy?"

lol...I see this crap all the time. It bugs the shit out of me too. I used to have guys following me around all the time telling me how I should do different workouts, I'm doing stuff the wrong way (even though their advice is completely off) and just overall annoying me. lol. I just put on me meanest face and ignore everyone or pretend like I have earphones on. haha.

I must look mean because trainers/people never bug me at all that way.
