ok guys im 17 years old and i been lifting weights for about a year now...im about 145 5'7 or 5'8 and for my birthday i got some creatine monohydrate...but i dont kno if its safe for me to take it or not?...i have a lot of friends that take it and they arent complaining...can any of you guys tell me if its safe or not?...andy info would be useful, thanks

Creatine is hard on the liver just like some AS. , so you should take it for a certain amount of weeks and then so many off. But I am in agrement with Presser. At that age its probably not needed. Any type of steroids should not be needed either. When your still young as you are you still have some growing to do naturally. Some drugs or suplements will only stunt or damage that natural process.

I'm going to have to disagree here.

Creatine is relatively harmless in all senses.

Its hard on the liver? Thats the first time I heard that... but I haven't really been keeping up with creatine reading or anything.

I beleive it to be relativily safe but as presser stated you are too young to need it. You are at a stage of your life when your body's hormonal system is already pumping you full of an anabolic cocktail. Eat wise and train hard, you'll be amazed at the gains you are capable of.

Creatine is a good supplement, one of the few supplements which in my opinion works. There is no risk at all taking the creatine at your age. Just follow the directions on the jar.

Sincerely,

HL

NO? HOW ABOUT THE KIDNYS, THEY TAKE A BEATING FROM THIS SHIT DO THEY NOT? ATLEAST I ALWAYS THOUGHT SO

Not a beating I would say. But a valid point is to drink at least a gallon a day.

Sincerely,

HL

I think the only real consistent side effects that people complain about are cramps, which is a result of dehydration from the creatine.

Drink plenty of water, this will get rid of any of the dehydrating effects of the creatine and also flush out the kidneys.

cutliss,
It's definitely a safe way to gain strength and muscle (mostly water weight in the muscle tissue). Don't expect to keep the gains you make off it though. Every time I use it I bulk up more and then lost it within a week after stopping it.

That what everyone tells me as well, that all the gains made off creatine will be lost once you stop..

What is the point of taking it then?

Perhaps because you are able to lift more weight, so you make more gains because of that? So in effect you still end up with more mass then you would have without the creatine?

Creatine is safe unless you have an underlying kidney problem, then there might be problems. I've seen no studies showing any liver disfunction that can be attributed to creatine. Get yourself checked out and if everything is clear forge ahead at reasonable doses and drink plenty of H2O. Over 40 years of study on this compound with excellent safety profile.
