I know DHT promotes hair loss, but can it also prevent hair growth/thickening? Say if I take test which promotes hair growth/thickness, will taking something like EQ decrease the side effect of hair growth of the test?

no it has nothing to do with it. you must take finasteride better known as propecia or prscar depending on the strentgh. these are dht antagonist which compete for the receptors with dht and effectively block it. dont take it with deca though. not good mix with sides.
you can also take saw palmetto - this will do the same thing at a lower level.
it will be good for your prostate to take finasteride as well. make sure you take an anti e such as arimidex and nolva as well.
you will be fine.

I actually WANT the hair to go away. Sorry for the confusion. While on test, my body hair seems to get thicker and grow faster. Haven't seen any real back hair, but that's what im most worried about. Never been that hairy and hate the look of it.

Sorry for body hair it is called a...RAZOR, or you can opt for laser removal.
To take a product to remove hair will remove your hair on your head first, which DHT will slowly do.

Finasteride is not a DHT antagonist. It's a 5 alpha reductase inhibitor, which prevents the conversion of test (or other 5 a reducable AAS) to DHT or their analogues (DHN, DHB). Spirolactone or minoxidil are DHT receptor antagonists that are used topically.
Taking deca with finasteride is fine....actually good. Finasteride + deca = bad is just a myth.
Nandrolone itself is a 5 alpha reductase inhibitor (although it yields DHN in the process). So less DHT is produced if nandrolone is present. Also, DHN is more androgenic than nandrolone but less androgenic than DHT. So, finasteride with deca (nandrolone) should both work to reduce DHT levels, and since finasteride will inhibit 5 a reductase, it'll also keep levels of DHN lower too.

to be honest, i have used proviron by itself before and i will tell you what i noticed. my hair on my head started to thin pretty quickly and fall out (just a little though b/c i stopped soon thereafter). however, my body and facial hair both started to grow at an incredible pace AND thickened substantially. btw, proviron, if you aren't familiar with it, is pretty much like taking dht in pill form from what i understand. i think it is named methyl-dht, and is even a little stronger than the natural dht. not sure though.
