Yes, but thats why constitutional rights are not subject to popular vote: rights must exist *regardless* of individual emotional reactions.

FWIW, my father, a huge imposing man, was reduced to an incontinent aushwitiz-looking survivor becasue of cancer of the lungs, esophagus, and throat. He smoked cigarettes his entire life. His mother was also a smoker, and died of emphysema.

And yet, I still do not belive in restrictions on the manufacture, sale, or use of cigarettes, and I opposed legislation to outlaw smoking in restaurants.
I *do* value rights and freedom over and above how that personally affects me and those I love.

You want to outlaw guns? The Black Market will still exist, except they will ALL be in the hands of the "pieces of shit" you referred to.

ALWAYS.
this is the #1 problem behind the liberal aspect of "removing all guns from society".

how do you get criminal (much less the rest of society) to voluntarily turn in all their weapons?

I would think that personally experiencing this, would lead one to believe that everyone should have to right to protect themselves with lethal (i.e. guns) methods. I dont have to be a victim of crime to realize that guns in the right hands could have prevented many crimes in the first place.
