I know what you're talking about. My strength correlates much more closely to what I'm taking than my bodyweight. I'm only 243lbs now and I'm substantially stronger than I was at 270lbs. At a certain point I don't think muscle size directly correlates to strength due to the growth of different fibers. You've only got so many fast twitch fibers.
I have a friend that this happens to...when he's 215-220 he has like a 425-435 max on bench(his strongest exercise)when he gets above 220 he starts to get weaker when he's like 230/235 his max is under 400
I don't know bro, but I know pound for pound the pro bodybuilders are weak. I mean they are pushing a lot of weight, but pound for pound it's not that impressive, there might be some kind of science behind that though
