Muscle fatigue hmm...

Should I have DOMs after every workout? If I'm not sore, did I waste my time? When I lift heavy, I seem to skip the soreness. When I lift high reps, I always get sore. What do you guys think?

:bench:muscle please!

I'm a 24 hour guy. It usually takes me exactly 24 hours to get sore. I get sore every single time I train except my shoulders and they never get sore. But I train a couple of guys who no matter what I do to them they don't get sore! It has to do with the amount of lactic acid that builds up in your muscle, and each person makes different amounts of it.

any movement youre muscles arent used to can cause DOMS. however studies show that eccentric contractions of the muscle lead to greater increases in delayed onset muscle soreness. eccentric contractions meaning the forceful contraction of the muscle as it lengthens...such as lowering the bar slowly on the preacher curl, the downward part of a squat, and the downward part of a pushup...

from my understanding the cause of DOMS is actually debatable. Some say its due to a build up of acid, but i think currently the majority of Musculoskeletal guys feel its actually deeper microscopic tears laterally (against the grain if you will) in the musclefibers opposed to longitudinal tears that go with the grain

I've also heard both arguments that it's microtears and that it's lactic acid build up. Not sure which one it is or if it's a combo of both, but I know the shit sticks with me for 2 days after the workout. I don't get it EVERY workout, but merely when I incorporate a movement I've not done recently
