I just saw on National New where they made it legal to allow drug dogs to search daily in Middle Schools in the US.
What are your thoughts on this??
My personal thought is that I am absolutely opposed to this...1000%..this is a violation of privacy even that I feel children and young adults should have...What kids are going to want to go to school in order to be harrassed...
I personally think this sets a new precedent and violation of human rights..The government is overextending itself more and more each day, and I think we need to be very aware of this...Last thing I want is LE, gov't or State involved in my child's life. If my child were involved using drugs as a middle schooler or teenager, I would personally want to help her...and not allow the Gov't, State, and LE's approach to deal with my child.
My thought is that for drug issues, you attempt to solve the problem by helping the person. Giving a person probation, jail time and a record that can effect their long term employment is just another device our Gov't uses in order to control the population. If I were ever in that position, I would want to get my child help with rehab or take preventative measures...
Children are far more prone to "peer pressure", experimentation and overall trying to find themselves in the world...If my child has a bag of weed or bottle of Test in their locker, I don't want any other involvement..I think the schools need to handle this on their level..suspensions, detentions, etc...
The day is coming where you and I will have very minimal control of what we are able to do, and this is happening day by day by day IMO..We are getting closer to attempts at full control...
Not sure if anyone sees this for exactly what I do, but these drugs dogs need to stay out of the schools..funny how we couldn't afford to put LE in place to "protect" our children from Newtown CT..but now all of a sudden we can afford an officer and a drug dog to make unwarranted searches and seizures and place our children into the fucked up Court and Justice System of the US.
I don't want my child subject to the BS 'war on drugs" that this Country has launched..If you want a solution put something in place to address why these children are using drugs and educate them on better alternatives, or help them to rehabilitate them long term...Ruining their future is not a deterrent to kids using drugs, they don't think that great...And neither does our POS system.
Anyone agree/disagree??
