i've seen this a few times around the boards, and the anwer that i've seen is only if you are singled out by someone as taking them, caught w/ contraband, or your commanding officer has got it out for you and thinks your taking some...and wants it for himself...j/k

Does anyone know if they test for steroids?

I was raised in a Marine Corpes town and have had many friends that were active duty marine corpes and used gear-alot of it too. None of them got tested ever. As long as you do not get caught dealing them you should not have any problems. I spoke with a retired Lt. Col about steriods in the marines and his response was he would rather the infantry personel use them-do you want a guy covering your ass in a hot LZ that benches 405 for reps or a pencil neck geek? He said it was kind of like a "don't ask, Don't tell" attitude. I was also friends with 2 super heavy Marine powerlifters-real cock strong guys-they juiced like crazy, never got tested. BTW-the test itself is rather expensive, so it probably is not used much at all. Test is 3-4 hundred bucks i believe.

Yeah no worries unless your actually caught with it. A normal military piss test will not check for steroids, they have to actually catch you and then request the test. I passed my test many times, along all the special forces...I hear almost all of them juice.

Yeah, I'm thinking about joing the force.

Doubt you will get tested for gear. However-the marines are very serious about weight control. Army-Navy-Air force are much more lax-In the Corpes BB's have to get a waiver from their CO to be overwieght-and the weight limits are ridiculously low. A guy that is 6 ft is probably limited to 200 or less.

I'm 6'1 and my max weight for the marines is like 230lbs. Dont worry though if your over weight it dosent matter as long as your BF isnt high, ither either 20% or 22% max, it changes from brach to branch and with age. Just dont let anyone know you juice and you will be fine...also dont let yourself gains 20lbs in a month, break out in acne, and riod rage on everyone. You will be fine.

I am curious if the Marine Corpes are using actual BF% (as in hydrostatic weighing) or are they still using that F'd up measurement system-measure neck, waist and calculate the % that way?
Also do you have to get a waiver to stay at that higher bodyfat? The Marine bros I trained with several years ago said it was a real pain in the ass to get a waiver sometimes-said sometimes the CO would be a marathon type of guy and would bust the BB's balls on the weight waiver .

It works something like this first they will weight you, if your over your weight they will tape measure you for your body fat, I feel the tape measureing for your body fat is actually very generous tends to measure your body fat lower then what it actually is, but if you still dont pass that I think you can get your body fat check hydrostaticly. They aren't going to just kick you out. Its a whole process of BS, the military is full of just as many rules to save your ass as it is with rules to bust your ass.

For juice? Military testing has to be completely random or they have to test the entire unit or they have to catch you using something.

I had a friend go to germany base when Iraq shit started he was a and co-worker lifted natural at my gym and maybe weighed about 200lbs 5'10" probably and pretty lean.

He went to Germany about 1.5 yr ago and came back after 6 months around 230 lbs very lean I seen him I knew what he had been up to, lol. I figured he was not seeing much or any action.

I talked to him he said he never seen action just ate and lifted and got on aas from a Dr. He said it was very expensive like 100.us dollar for Dr visit and over $150.00 10cc vial of some weird test he had name for I never heard of it. He said he was directed on how to do this as many other guys were doing the same. So he was paying over 200.00 per 10cc vials of test.

He got out of Army a few months and lost all his gains but went back in again.

I heard of cases where they tested just individuals who got caught with bottles of aas or having serious rages or causing problems not testing everyone in the unit.

I was in the Corp. The basic drug testing is not for AAS. As far as weight goes, if you're overweight, they will evaluate your fitness level with the basic PFT (physical fitness test) which consist of:

sit ups (must do 80 in 2 minutes for perfect score)
pull ups (must do 20 for perfect score)
3 mile run (18 minutes for perfect score, though most come in around 20 minutes)

They also go by appearance, i.e. if you don't look fat and score well in PFT, you get the waiver. If you score well, but look fat, then they will give you some time to loose fat before they do another eval.... It's really no big deal IMO.
