You can show me as many studies as your want bashing glutamine and saying it doesn't work but it works wonders for me, sometimes you just gotta with experience in the trenches. And bodybuilders are definitely the ones to ask if a supplement/drug works, lol. I find i get huge pumps, i sleep better, I recover better and I look fuller on glutamine, that right their is enough for me to keep on using the stuff. But just for arguments sake take a look at the studies done for CLA their are just as many saying it doesn't work as their are ones that say it does, but people still use it and are experiences fatloss, which isn't supposed to happen if you follow some of these studies.
 
i completely agree with tonykemp's statement. it's very accurate in a broader sense.

regarding disregarding the research -- science brought all these drugs to your table. we wouldn't even have testosterone without logical and careful thought. it's done us good so far, so i wouldn't abandon it now.
 
I for one dont care who says what , i go by how i feel and glutamine does my body good, I can definatly tell when dieting for a show the muscle sparing effects as well as over all recooping
 
Marble I'm not saying to throw out what research tells us, what I'm saying is to research the supp but also try it for yourself to see how you react to it. Hell, research in and of itself can make things look good or bad but its not till we actually try it for a length of time to see how well our body reacts to it can we say yeah this help me or no it wasnt beneficial to me.
 
i can totally agree with that, and personal experience does matter. :) but you can't find good research to support any bullshit you want. you can twist it horribly beyond its original meaning, or find really bad research. it makes me very angry when people do that because people waste money and get sick. that was the comment i took issue with more than "it worked for me." it worked for me is totally valid.

BB's often try or take so many things at once it's hard to isolate exactly what is responsible for a positive or negative change. we rarely even write down what we're taking and review it later, or compare it. that's why i hate relying on bb experience; it's always got SO many variables in there that a controlled, careful study is usually the only true source of info on a single compound. i'll say in my experience and those of others i know who have tried glutamine, we've gotten nothing from it.

Allright here is an actual writeup thats not written by a BB. I dont have the actual writeup on hand but if ya live in atlanta you can go to Emory Univeristy and they can get it for ya in the medical library.

i can't even find the abstract nearby; it's an old and obscure study. i would certainly be interested in the abstract or fulltext if anyone has it available. :)

i completely agree, i have taken glutamine ever since i started lifting seriously. i could care less what majority of science tells us...i go by what works for people in real life. real life situations are so different from scenarios designed in the lab. scientific research tells us we cannot process/do not need more than 1-1.5g of protien per kg/bodyweight. i said fuck that and took 400g/day and grew like a fucking weed. obviously we have learned great things from science that has helped up immensly when it comes to muscle growth, but sometimes science just cannot explain why something works, for all we know it just does.
