I was wondering what you folks who compete use? Iam having a tatoo done on my upper back and have let the grooming go far awhile now. I want to clean it up cause they just do a quick shave but I would like to knock it out for afew before regrowth.
Thanks

Unless you want to spend money on laser or wax, you will have to work the clippers and a razor.
I have tried a lot of the hair removers and they don't work 100% - plus they smell like rotten eggs.
One tip- make sure that you cover that tattoo properly - some judges are anal about tattoos and have seen some really good guys get marked down for not covering them up fully....

Wax I won't dare lol , the amount of hair on my body is I like trees in amazon and they know how to grow lol , only clippers , I get razor rash any tips for gorillas like me lol

mmx2= thanks for info man. I have plans on competing just figured you who do might have some insider secert. thanks for info

akn= waxing isnt so bad it smarts but it last for awhile atleast on me. I have the wife use removal creme(Nair makes one for men) it was quick and worked ok but like MMx2 said shit stank!!!
I have gone to my hair stylist( as she calls herself) and had her do my back a couple times cost like 25 bucks and took about 15-20 mins wasnt a bad experience.

trust me im one hairy guy that nair cream i tried , for legs it was ok as on my legs not much hair but for chest and back it gave me rash and too much sensitive skin , hair on my upper body are thick dense hairs enev if i shave em it would grow back within days lol wax would be painful for sure lol

Bro I've been competing since the mid 80's during the AAU days and my thoughts:

Hot wax, the good is is lasts for about 6 wks, you are smooth as a baby's behind. The bad is it hurts worse than doing 50 sets of forced reps.....I had it done at a beauty school with students and I swear half them were man haters.

Razor....lots of bumps and nicks, but when the dust settles, not a bad thing but the stubble starts within 2 wks or so

Shaver....for my last shows last Fall, I bought a Peanut a small electric shaver for about $50. But I also paid my haircut lady $100 to lather me and razor me first, then I used shaver for the contest 3 wks later. This is the way to go IMO. Even bypassing the shaving/cream part is OK. Sure with electric shaver only, it grows back in a short time but its painless and you look sleek afterward.
