How many sets for traps to you do, so you feel like you really hit them? Ill do 5-10 sets depending on which day of the week it is, being I do them twice a week. They still suck. I just need them thicker.

Although they get lost in the shuffle sometimes and I feel like they get hit pretty decent on my shoulder days heres what I do

Heavy DB Shrugs with dropsets
Straight bar attachment cable upright rows

Take the cable crossover grips and put them both on the bottom pulley and do upright rows, it hits them at a different angle for me and they burn like a bitch!

If im just doing traps ill hit them for about 10 sets. I used to dedicate a day to just rear delts and traps, then id do about 15 sets

Two , three sets warm up, and then one set , hit them hard up to eight , nine reps to failure. I hold the shrugs up, one, two seconds. When I m working them up only once a week very hard, I got better results.

I love shrugs and I actualy have pretty good size and peaked traps, and truth is i have no idea, I just do set after set and go til failure with the reps so sometimes im sure i do maybe 4 sets but those sets each had 50 reps in them or more, or ill do maybe 5-6 sets and maybe just go super super heavy with maybe 20 reps per set,

I blast my traps and for me loads and loads of reps has always worked best for me, although i dont count my reps, i know i do anywhere from 20 reps super heavy per set or 40-50 reps medium heavy for a bunch of sets, My traps respond well to high reps

ive been doing straight bar shrugs.... the best mass builder for me

i do traps twice a week and usually keep my reps high 20-25... i max out at 365 with strict form
then follow it with high rope rows to the top of my head

I work my way up with 10 - 15 reps until I hit 545 and do 20 or so really powering them up, but keeping my back straight and heels flat. Then maybe the 150 DB's and hold for 2 seconds at the top of rep for however many reps. Probably 15.

Lets not forget the behind the back upright rows with the straight bar! Lee Haney classic!

Form is weird and awkward but they hit the traps nicely

lately whats been killing mine is about 8 sets, ill do 4 heavy behind back smith shrugs if i do it with a straight bar my big ass gets in the way lol. I also drop down to 135 on smith and do some one armed shrugs with this weight.
Then i go to the shoulder press seated bench by the dumbells and work my way up in weight with a straight back shrugging with one arm really concentrating on pulling up with my traps very slowly this makes me sore as shit the next day. If i just do heavy shrugs id ont even feel it the next day, for me its all about concentration on them.
