I got busted in Tijuana crossing with gear two summers ago. I made one successful trip with a couple k worth of gear, then I made another trip and got busted... Just be very careful. If you cross do so at a busy time. Cross with a bunch of shit so it looks as though you were shopping and having a wife or kids helps. Also it may be a good idea to change shirts before going back into the US (maybe overkill) but it can't hurt, just in case someone watches places. I dunno how the fuck they caught me but they knew I had shit. Also drink some beers so you have a nice buz and look loose and not like you are hiding anything. I will NEVER smuggle again, but if I did I would do a few things different.
The first time I crossed I had several bags worth of shit so it looked like I was shopping, I was drunk, and it was on a weekend at a busy time. The time I got busted it was like noon on a thursday and not that many people were crossing the border, I was sober, and I had no bags full of mex shit I bought.
They new I had shit though. As soon as I crossed four guys surrounded me and began interrogating me. They even patted me down twice and did not feel shit. Then one of them grabbed me and shook me violently and heard the clen rattling.
I'd definitely ditch any boxes you have, and fix any pills so that they do not rattle. I don't know if you are crossing on foot or by car but that's just my advice.
Also, my brother got stopped and they asked him if he had any things he'd like to declare and he said yes and handed over 60 valium and they said you can forfit it and go or keep it and get arrested. He obviously forfitted it. I on the other hand would not admit to it like a dumbass. They did not even take my brothers name down.
I ended up sitting in customs getting detained, fully searched (not fun), and screamed at and harrassed for 6 hours before they let me go.
Crossing with shit is not that dangerous, but if they are about to search you and ask if you'd like to declare anything say "YES" and then you can forfit it and leave w/ no probs. Yes you lose money but you can go right back and buy it again for cheap and make another crossing and you can still come out ahead cuz if you shop at the right places it's so cheap.

Wish I lived like 30min from border I'd just take a trip to mexico everyday.....maybe I should talk to the wife. lol
