So i get out of class this morning , go over to my friends place and pass out. Wake up to find a text from my roommate that says "im out of apt by tuesday, you need to find out if you are staying if so get a roommate , if not well ok." So the fucker gives me a week notice !!! And since we didnt give the complex 30 days notice i lose my deposit , if i want my deposit back ive got to pay another full months rent so they can have their notice. I have never wanted to beat the immortal hell out of someone so bad until today.

Dude, in all seriousness, you need to have him beaten if you don't do it yourself. I had a roommate that tried that with me, he actually moved out a day early when I wasn't there and he took a bunch of my shit (clothes, DVDs, electronics....) with him. I just waited for him to get wasted one night then got his apartment keys from him and went to his apartment, got all my stuff back and some of his. Paybacks are a bitch

If his name is on the lease he is legally obligated to continue paying his portion of the rent whether he lives there or not, unless he sublets the remaining term of the lease to someone else. I know this from first hand experience. Laws may vary state to state, but that was the case in my situation. If you are on a month to month deal or his name isn't on the lease then you really have no legal recourse. Sucks.

i think this case need the ole soap in a sock trick. insert a bar of soap in long tube sock. then start to beat roommate with tubesock. i assure results with this method. you may even get six months rent who knows. the method isn't always predictable.
I honestly have no clue why hes leaving like this. I found out today that his dad bought him a house and he had been fixing it up on the side. Which still it would of been decent to give me a heads up and some notice so I could find a place and plan out my move. Luckily I know a lot of people in town and found a place today, signed my lease, paid my shit and i move in tmrw. I tried to work something out with the landlord but they treat each two bedroom and person seperate. But he can kiss my ass if he thinks im paying January's utilities that will get billed by February. He made me lose deposit, he gets no money from this guy
