Sanou has yet to make a formal statement regarding his withdrawal at the time of this article’s publication. As the world record holder of the Log Press and the Axle Press, Iron Biby was a contender to win this contest. He placed third in 2021 behind champion Oleksii Novikov, who will return to attempt a title defense in 2022.
On the morning of July 7, 2022, Giants Live shared another Instagram post announcing that Australian strongman Eddie Williams would replace Sanou.

That same morning, the “Singing Strongman” posted a video of himself arriving at an airport on his Instagram story, signifying that he was en route to the United Kingdom. According to Strongman Archives, the 2022 Strongman Classic will be Williams’ first strongman competition since the 2020 Arnold Strongman Santa Monica contest, where he finished 12th overall. Martins Licis won that contest.
Williams competed in the 2019 World’s Strongest Man contest but failed to qualify for the Final. Licis won that contest as well. Williams’ most recent victory came at the 2018 Australia’s Strongest Man contest. He won that competition in 2017.
Iron Biby’s withdrawal announcement came less than 24 hours after Adam Bishop withdrew from the contest due to a triceps injury. Gavin Bilton took his place. On June 17, 2022, Maxime Boudreault of Canada replaced Konstantine Janashia, who removed himself from the lineup.
With all changes reflected, the lineup for the 2022 Strongman Classic is as follows:
