I noticed many times that Jay uses a narrow grip on his benching or atleast it looks that way. I keep my hands atleast shoulder width. Which do you guys prefer and why. Also, Im sure you noticed and have talked about it but a lot of these guys have terrible form. Esp Branch. He just throws it around, no negative and bounces the weight off his chest. Now Im no strict form guy. I beleive everyone has there sweet spot and cheating works but some of these guys look like horrible

Well Personally I go wider than my shoulder for two reasons. The first being it feels alot smoother with the movement of my shoulder with heavier weight, and secondly bc it seems to take the edge off of the pulling I feel on my right tricep from the surgery.

I believe sometimes they neglect form to really get the pump and hypertrophy of their muscle. Stretch the fascia to really stretch the fibers and build new muscle. Doing that with strict form isn't always easy.

Just my 2cents.

You also have to keep in mind that Jay is a lot wider than a lot of us so his wide grip would probably put his hands on the outside of the plates lol. But going wider is certainly going to have less stress on your shoulders. There's a reason powerlifters go as wide as possible on the bar. It also shortens the range of motion and puts more focus on the chest itself and less on the shoulders. I don't recommend going wide on an incline bench though, you'll definitely hurt yourself doing that, but on a flat bench, I go index finger on the rings.
