Adkins, like just about any diet has it's pluses and minuses. Adkins, being the common man's low carb diet is the most popular amoung the masses. However, BBers aren't common.
Adkins has 2 problems. For one, you just don't get carbs. Try lifting weights for a few days without them. Ephedra will only take you so far.
The other problem is that is shuts down conversion of T4 into T3. T3 is the more potant of the 2 thyroid hormones and responsible for a great deal of weight loss. This is one of the reasons weight loss on Adkins slows after a few weeks.
Do a search on TKD or CKD diets. Both are low carb diets with specific planned carb-up periods. Also check Skip's journal in the competitor's forum. Skip uses a low carb diet with specific carb-up periods.
I also think Al's journal is in the cycle's forum and you may want to check Harvey's cutter or T82's journal while you're in there.
