ok, i'm sure we all know people who smoke pot... i have a specific friend in mind, who frequently lifts and does cardio, but he also smokes pot on occasion and yesterday we were discussing what effects that may have on bodybuilding.

does anyone have any information on the possible effects THC may have on building muscle? does it raise estrogen/suppress testosterone? or really have no effect?<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Ive heard about the raising estrogen, not much else though. I get randoms at work or else i would dabble with it a little. Helps me sleep and obviously eat more lol

I've heard it lowers your testosterone.. So if that is the case maybe I need to stop.. lol

I've known quite a few people to smoke before they train because they were able to focus more. I don't smoke at all so I've never done it, but it worked for the other guys that I know

I am more focus when I smoke Mary Jane.. But I have never smoked before I workout.. Maybe I need to put it to the test.. lol

Every pro I know uses pot as a staple. They need it to eat what they need to eat. There was a post not long ago about a top pro's full drug regimen and it included like an oz of weed a week! Also had Nubain, cholesterol meds, and some other stuff. Injectable glutathione was one.

Agreed about the eating part, trouble is the damn munchies! When I used to get high, the tuna, chicken and eggs went out the door and in came the pizza, candy and fast food

I've done it before a light day of lifting weights just to blow off steam... Got a good workout without injuring myself lol.. I wouldnt burn one and try to max out the weight or anything.

In 1995 The University of Iowa studied the effects of thc on hormones in the body. Heres the abstract.....

To investigate possible effects of chronic marijuana use on reproductive and stress hormones, we assayed testosterone, luteinizing hormone, follicle stimulating hormone, prolactin, and cortisol in 93 men and 56 women with a mean (± S.E.) age of 23.5 ± 0.4 years. Hormone values were compared among groups of subjects stratified according to frequency of marijuana use (frequent, moderate and infrequent; N = 27, 18, and 30, respectively) and non-using controls (N = 74). Chronic marijuana use showed no significant effect on hormone concentrations in either men or women.
