Ok guys I need help with some show decisions. First off, the state show (Mr.Iowa/Midwest) is on April 6th, 2013. It is 16 weeks away as of today. Master Nationals is the 2nd week of July (7 and half months away). Ok, the decision, is if I should do my state show, or not. Why, well first I was going to do it, to get my NQ back cause I thought, I needed it for Master Nats. But, I come to find out, Im already qualified to do the show. So, in all reality I really dont need to do my state show, and start dieting at the first of the year (14 weeks out). So im looking at either being 14 weeks out, or 26-27 weeks out. Huge, difference, and it gives me alot of time, to really clean up the diet, and get myself into great shape even before I have to do some hardcore dieting. I havnt talked it over with Mike Ross, yet. So im going to get with him over the weekend or monday, and get his input. But, at first I thought I wanted to really do state, but then everyone and there dog wanted me to prep them for the show. So now, I have 6 maybe 7 people I have to deal with on the day of the show. Alot, ALOT of stress for me...Plus, getting myself ready it would put a huge strain in my last few days of prep. So now, im thining just pass it up, enjoy the show, and my clients. Really its a no brainer, but my competive side wants to get back on stage, and get a good warm up in....

I agree. Skip it and plan all out for Nationals. Less chance of burning yourself out and more time to fine tune. Plus seeing the state show will really amp you up for Nationals!

I agree skip your state show.. It is not fair to you or your clients.. For you will have stress on dieting and trying to get your client to where they need to be. And for your client they should have your 100% of your attention.. And I think that would be hard for anyone to do if they are all doing the same show.

Option 1) skip it..If you are too busy prepping people and you don't do as well as you can, you may disturb your confidence..

Option 2) like Nuk said go for it...I love this mentality in Strongman because it's simple...I don't have to "look" a certain way like you guys do in Bodybuilding, so in many ways a "prep" is easier...I don't even "prep" for Strongman contests...Mind you I work my ass off getting as strong as I can all year...95% of competitors prep...and by this I mean they have a list of events at a specific show, and practice only those events before a show...

I show up day of and don't practice any iin advance..I figure if I am the strongest guy, it doesn't matter what events appear or if I practice...So I can agree with Nuk, if that is the current mentality you possess..

Best luck to you Chris either way.
