Before I start getting involved with the fitness posts, I have to ask you all about migrains.
I had my first one back in 1999 or 2000. For a while there I had a lot until I discovered that going to a chiropractor "fixed" them. When one started, I would go get my neck adjusted and it would be gone within hours. This last year I haven't had many.
Now though, the last 3 months have been hell. Constant migrains (big & small) or a constant pain in the back of my head. Some that will last for days.
My question -- I was put on birth control pills 3 months ago to control my anemia. Is this a coincidence or do the hormones have anything to do with it?
Has anyone else had a similar situation? I'm wondering if I should go off the pills.

Sounds like the birth control pill is contributing to your headaches and there are some reported cases of too much estrogen causing migraines. Could you switch to a lower dose of estrogen in your pill? You could still be able to help the anemia on an extra low dose; Allese is a good low-dose pill that I liked.

DG ~ is that over-the-counter or a script? I used to take meds, but after a couple of times they didn't even touch it.

Red ~ Thank you! Noone has been able to confirm the hormones with the migrains for me. Maybe I'm estrogen sensitive?

I haven't been able to take the pill, always got sick the next day.
This one (supposedly) has 1/2 the estrogen than the lowest pill that's out there. I'm taking Microgestin but will ask my doctor when I see her next month about the Allese.

Redrocks is Da bomb! She knows her stuff.

Same goes for me, too - I get around enough women with all that estrogen and I'll get a splitting migraine. Usually runs down my neck and sometimes ends up in my ass.

Seriously, though, if you're interested, there are some chinese herbs that help with migraines, too. Let me know.

 Randy ~ Hubby says your one smart sob! lol

I will try anything. I went to the chiro's last Wed, went to the gym Thrs & did something cause I woke up Fri with the back of my head aching. I still have that same damn headach.

Hey KRLady. A SOB maybe, but smart, no - just too much time in school. ;)

Here's a link for an herbal mix:

IDeally you would find an herbalist and get a chinese medical diagnosis and go from there. (The above link only focuses on one diagnosis that can cause migraines - there are others.) THere are also herbs / formulae for headaches where you say you have them (back of the head).

I don't think that any of our sponsors sell chinese herbs. :) You can find them online in pre-made "patent" formulas. Look for some with Man Jing Zi and Qiang Huo in them. OUght to come up pretty easy with a search.

If you can find one, go see an oriental bodyworker, too. (An acupuncturist who does herbs, needles and body work all three would be best.) Might be cheaper than a chiro (depending on insurance, of course) and they can often do bone-setting and other things that will give you a longer lasting effect.

Hope this helps!!!
