who feels that weigh training over time has become too conplicated or too scientific....

are new training methods clouding the basic's ?

are "newbies" being misguided ?

Jon, not really sure I get that one? I really dont think its gotten too scientific myself, but mags have articles all the time on diff tech's, and exercises. Most of it is hogwash. There are definately two distinct training methods. One being typical weight and resistance training, and then there are actual gym rats that are bodybuilders. Bodybuilders, isolate their muscles more, and work them for growth. We are not strength trainers, although some increased strength can be a by product of our training, but a 24" arm is a 24" arm, and wether the muscle is strong or not is indifferent. Keeping growth of the bodys LBM, and keeping it in symettry is key. Constant personal analysis is important to work our weaknesses to keep a full package. As for newbies being misguided.....well the single biggest mistake by most guys is inadequet protein, and food consumption. The fact remains quite simply, if you want to grow big, you gotta eat big. Without that nutrition, you are only stunting yourself.

I sort of feel it has , but in a day way...

New articles and training methods. Etc come out and backup , suggest certain types of training and information.

But are assumed partly rather than FULLY answered.

Science has become a big part of training , some of it good , but MOST of it is just there to be there and misguide.

Like dont eat before you go to bed... I actually find that the WORST thing you can do. just random stuff that isnt supported , or wrongly supported.

Dude I agree that some people just try to get way to microcasmatic about weight training which is why when i give advice it seems to simple and plain to simply say:

"Use good form, use basic compound movements, Listen to your body so you dont overtrain" shit like that.

I was just looking at a 300 page manual on lifting weights at the book store. This guy broke it down to the subcellular science.lol

Main goal should be to get your ass to the gym and lift. I believe pro's can be a little bit more picky about building up specific parts for symmetry but newbies read these article and get overwhelmed and quit which is why it's really important that newbies understand that they need just basic knowledge and the building of discipline.

I think yes and no. For someone just starting out, it is easy to make it more complicated than it needs to be. Fundamentals are key and provide a foundation to grow off of.

At the same time, I enjoy reading about the science behind new philosophies and techniques and learning how the body works. Although some theories don't work and some may be a little out there, if nobody ever tried anything outside the box we would never make advancements. And that applies to more than just bodybuilding.

I would say that there is a lot of overcomplication these days. I always tell people to stick to the basic core lifts first. That's one reason why I like DC Training so much. It pretty much is the basics.
