Ok, I have done several bodybuilding shows and have done fair to say the least. I've come to the conclusion long ago that at my height (5'8") I'd need to be at least a welter at the very least, but would be better at the top of the middleweights. Well I don't think I'll ever hit that weight which is why I've put doing any shows on the back burner if not totally gone away from the idea.

So as a former bodybuilder, I've thought the men's physique was a joke since the beginning. But after seeing the guy who won the Men's Physique Olympia actually had me interested in possibly getting into that just so I can compete again and back on stage. Now like I said, I've been against it from the get go and I can't believe I'm even contemplating this move, but I wanted to see how former competitors or current competitors view the Physique class. Do you think it's a joke and somewhat "gay" or is it something you'd consider if you knew you wouldn't fare well in bodybuilding??

I think if they had some sort of judging that incorporated legs into it people would take it a bit more serious, but I do know a lot of people who do the mens "bikini" and they seem to enjoy it since they don't have to have the mass and leanness of a bodybuilder. i also think they way they make you walk out and put your hand on your hip etc doesn't help with perception

I'm not big on personality and I know that plays a big part in physique so I can see that being a problem. It seems more like a modeling competition than anything to me though. I'm torn, I'd just like to have something to train for, but know that I'm too light to do well in bodybuilding. I guess I could go back into powerlifting since I am stronger than I am big

Lol soon their going to start asking the Men's Bikini competitors questions on stage like they do with Miss America lol......."If you could do one thing to change the world for the better, what would it be?" I can see it now lol and I'm with csuperman , if they judged legs then maybe it would get more respect but a bunch of TOP HEAVY idiots in O.P. board shorts is a joke!

IMO men's physique is who can look like a douche more... ie big arms and pecs and nothing else. Traps, legs, calves, back all go by the wayside.

Well, if it motivates you to train, then it can't be all that bad, something to keep you going, a wins a win, it's not like we'll make fun of you here for it..........Well a little... No just kidding.

to each his own but it just seems like the pretty boy class, i see those guys in the gym light wight, arms, shoulders and pecs. not my cup of tea

Do you really want to spend the time and money to compete in THAT?? You know how much money and time go into prep, personally there is no way I could do that. I'd rather be a "used to be" guy than a current physique guy. Remember man there's certain things you can't undo. Competing in physique is like putting a dick in your mouth just one time, afterwards you'll forever be the guy that sucked a dick.

LMAO.... But what if you didn't inhale? Is that ok.. Ha ha.

LMAO, well that clears everything up.....

Like I said before, I've always made fun of it and never gave it any consideration until I saw what that guy looked like and it just made me realize that I could actually look like that, but my biggest question to myself was do I want to look like that. I could never go without training legs and I think that guys who don't train legs seriously definitely have a different all around look to their physique. I am definitely glad I posted this prior to just going and doing one. Like The Dude said, I can live with myself knowing that I didn't win a show, but looked good when I did one
