Nerve regeneration and IGF. I need serious input.

My uncle had a stroke 6 months ago. He's like a father too me. I remeber reading that IGF had the potential to regenerate the nerves........He is slightly paralyzed on hisright side meaning he can move his leg some, his arm a little---no finger movement and his face or at least his righ side of his mouth is droopy.


If anyone can find info on this I would be more than greatful as Im considering putting him on a regimen of IGF starting him off slow along with electro-therapy........Help?

are you sure the damage can be reversed? I mean, isnt a stroke due to a busted blood vessel in the brain? that would lead to lack of oxygen to body tissue which in turn dies. I didnt think you could "revive" dead tissue.

a good friend of our family had a similiar stroke and only lost some of his movement, from what I was told by his sons after exhausting there efforts here they took him to Europe for stem cell experiments that had promising results. I know they tried many different things here in the states and I'll ask them if IGF was one of them and see what they say.

I would really appreciate that mike............Well I was told that some people can make full recovery and some partial. His was caused by a brain anuerism(SP?)..........At one point he was able to walk at all ow he can move his once paralyzed leg enough to walk with a cane.

I just remeber reading something about nerve regeneration and repair with IGF but im not certain since it was about a year ago and my mind has gone blank due to the stress.

Sorry brutha they said IGF wasn't one of the treatments that they remember being succesful. He's going to take a look at the files for me to make sure.

Thanks for looking into it........Im just looking at every option available.........He's a great man and I would trade places with him anyday. I just hate to see him like that........Hurts like a motha.

ok bro, he said that one of their doctors brought up IGF as a trial, he didn't participate in it but my thinking is that if they are doing trials on it that some Doctors believe that it would work in some respect. That's enough for me, good luck and God bless you and you're Uncle
