Thanks for the info. What is the Bill # that we should refer too.

From what I understand, The prohormone companys are there own worst enemy. They say things like "If you cant grow on this ,You can't grow on anything", " This product will produce massive muscle gains". One of the requirements to be classified as a Steroid is it has to "promote muscle growth"...and that is exactly what they tell the world their products do.
I think in past studies it was inconclusive as to weather this was true. There is a whole new world of prohormones out there since then. I'm not sure what they would find in a new Scientific study.
But the industry isn't helping themselves.
And in my opinion, I have tried a few of them and I could not tell between normal growth or help from the substance.

No bill number yet.

I agree, some prohormone companies have been less than responsible. No doubt.

But if you want to do something about this issue, the time to act is now. Instead of writing a letter (or in addition to it), you can call Senator Biden’s office. It takes less time, and forces somebody in his office to take the time to listen. The phone number is 202-224-5042. Here's one example of what to say. This is just a suggested guide, not something to read word-for-word. Be polite, but make sure your voice is heard. As I've said before, whether or not you like prohormones isn't the point. We need to stand up against any further governmental efforts to "protect us" by taking our personal dietary health choices away from us.

Hello, I would like to speak to the Senator or one of his staff members to voice my strong opposition regarding the Senator’s efforts to further regulate prohormone products and categorize them as anabolic steroids.

I strongly oppose the Senator’s efforts and feel they are not based on fact, not supported by science, and will do more harm than good to the vast majority of adult Americans who use and want to continue to use these products.

My reasons are as follows:

There is no evidence that these products are unsafe. Rather, these products have been safely used by millions of consumers. Trying to ban these products is an example of going too far to "protect us from ourselves."

To remove these products from the market just because a few professional or Olympic athletes use them to gain an unfair advantage is not fair and penalizes many because of the acts of a few elite level cheaters. Punish them, not the rest of America.

The Senator's bill would do even more harm to the public than simple removing these products from the market. His bill would subject adult Americans to arrest, prosecution and imprisonment for the mere possession of these products. That's simply intolerable.

There are other less oppressive ways to deal with prohormones. The solution is to adopt responsible advertising guidelines, marketing and sales restrictions so they are not sold to minors, and other responsible regulations. Prohormones are already banned in many competitive sports. The Senator’s actions go much too far and he should work with industry and consumer groups such as the USFA so that the needs of adult Americans, many from the Senator’s own state, can be free from the threat of imprisonment and can continue to have access to these products if they so choose.

Best,
Rick Collins

Thanks again for the information Mr. Collins. We'll be sure to keep this up top and hopefully many members won't sit idle and do nothing.

That last suggestion by Rick was pretty good....probably better than my threat to kill him and his goldfish. I think I hear sirens.

I mailed my letter last Friday.

I don't see Sanator Biden's opinions changing anytime soon.

I sent this message only minutes ago to my Senator, Senator Wayne Allard of Colorado.

I would encourage all of you to do the same with your Senators. Considering that Senator Biden most certainly isn't going to change his stance on the topic, hitting up your Senator so that he or she will not vote for the bill would seem the next best option.

Here it is:

Mr. Allard,
I am writing to you today to make you aware of a bill being proposed by Senator Biden of Delaware. As you may know, he was the initial and strongest "push man" behind the Anabolic Steroid Act of 1990. I understand that he is now proposing an Anabolic Steroid Act of 2003. His proposal is said to include changing some simple wording of the original act, attempting to include prohormones in the Act and increasing penalties from the already rediculous penalties imposed for people caught using anabolic steroids, already.

I am currently considered one of the top bodybuilding trainers on the internet. I work with bodybuilders from all over the United States and the world. In this work, I have dealt with many hundreds of bodybuilders over the years that have and continue to use anabolic steroids. These guys are tax paying, otherwise law-abiding citizens that have careers from attorneys to medical professionals to law enforcement and firemen. They have families just as you and I do, Mr. Allard. However, they have to constantly be reminded of how it could all be taken away from them if they are caught doing nothing more than using anabolic steroids to further their physique goals. You may say that using anabolic steroids is not needed and should be punishable by law. However, I would then ask you if women taking birth control is not needed and should be punished by law. It is the SAME situation - one is taking synthetic hormone to stop ovulation and the other is taking synthetic hormone to further their physique goals. I would have to wonder how one became punishable by law and the other is socially acceptable.

I am asking you, Mr. Allard, to use an informed and educated decision when you are asked to support a bill that originally was not even supported by the DEA, the AMA and all of the MEDICAL experts that were called to testify. If this seems to sound absurd, it is. None-the-less, the bill was somehow pushed through by an overzealous, uneducated (on the topic of anabolic steroids) group of politicians, lead of course by Senator Biden. The steroid using population does not need to be saved from themselves by another bill.

As a fellow Republican, I am simply asking that you be educated on the topic so that you can give an informed decision when you are asked to support this bill.

Thank you for your time, Mr. Allard, and I look forward to hearing opinions on this topic.

Just finished a good one-hour radio interview on "The Nature of Health" show with Don Bodenbach of KCEO in San Diego. Covered Durbin, Biden, and Sweeney-Osborne bills with a focus on personal responsibility (not governmental commands) in dietary health choices. Listeners were urged to begin standing up for their freedoms before it's too late. They were also urged to visit their local health food stores and ask them to contact the USFA at www.usfa.biz. Everyone should do this. Unless there's a major grassroots revolt, one (or more) of these bills is likely to pass. Hopefully, the message is starting to get out there...
