For the vets on the board, 35 and older ---

What do have you noticed about training, and dieting now that you have so many years in the sport ? Negative or Positive ???

For me ---

A.Less recovery if diet isnt on point or I have stress in my life

B.Cant handle as many carbs in a day as I use to, it just makes me watery and fat

C.Have to warm up alot more than I use to, takes me about 20 mins longer to get going

D. (Positive) - I can quit training for a month, and not lose a thing, or hardly at all.

E. (Positive) - Muscles are alot (ALOT) denser than they was 10 years ago....Look harder, more density, more roundness

ok im sure there is more...but lets hear what you have to say....

>> Very positive- I just turned 47 a few days ago and I am very positive in my training than I have been in years.

>> True but I also have learned not to let stress with work and life overtake me as I did even 5 years ago-

>>Oy- yes very correct. Taking in non essential carbs also makes you feel like shit

C.Have to warm up alot more than I use to, takes me about 20 mins longer to get going
>>This is also very true- 20 minutes is the minimum warm up time- more when its colder.

D. (Positive) - I can quit training for a month, and not lose a thing, or hardly at all.
>>Yes this is cool- I don't know why this is other than the maturity and memory of the muscle

E. (Positive) - Muscles are alot (ALOT) denser than they was 10 years ago....Look harder, more density, more roundness
>>Funny you say that but true- again I think it comes from muscle maturity and development

The other thing- going to the gym is fun again.
It is like a revitalization and re- invigoration all over again.
It is also cool to be the biggest guy around- I changed gyms that is pretty damn motivating too...

im 39 in march

i can get away with training only m/w/f and 1 set per exercise, 3-4 exercises per bodypart and each once a week only

i can eat more junk now...maybe it's from contantly on test, but i burn fat faster it seems...

can't do heavy squats or rack deads for more than a couple weeks cause low back strain

more warmups and almost pre-exhaust actually

I turn 33 in March, but this last year has brought a ton of changes like you've mentioned. I train less and gain more size. I can take long periods of time off from training AND eating correctly and not lose ANYTHING. I also notice much better separation even though I'm fatter

I listen to mu body much more and I lost the ego for the most part. The ego is what kills the young guys. They see me and think I should be lifting tons of weight, but I dont and cant.
My metabolism is still pretty fast so I can eat anything pretty much. Yes, my recovery from stress REALLY takes a toll on my lifting. Back in the day, I could party all night and could still lift heavy. Now, couldnt even think it.
I enjoy it MUCH MUCH more now and enjoy the pump more than just sticking my chest out or lat syndrome as a young lad, lol

I'm fortunate enough to not be able to answer this question just yet lol, you old farts

Not technically age wise, but your body says your about fifty! Just kidding people i never even seen bignwv,

what ive noticed is i maintain my size regardless of supps and training, which is pretty cool and i never thought this would be the case

However i cant eat protien a lot without taking in some fiber, lol, now thats some old man shit! I get all binded up now that im in my late 20's lol

I believed this up until the end. We know you're walking around with your cane nowadays since you had your spine refused and the hip, knee and shoulder replacements, not to mention all of the colostomy bags you keep around the house

Still love working out, more machines than free weights, not so much in to heavy weight but train as heavy as I can on that particular day, still love the gym atmosphere and seeing pretty girls at the gym, enjoy less crowded times , im 51 now

Being one of the geriatric members, I have to tell you that I am very lucky to have the kind of body that can take the punishment and demands I put on this 53 yr old body. At times I feel like I'm 25 again, there's nothing I did back then I don't do now. I still deadlift, squat both front and back, although I use a harness for fronts and bench press (most dumbbell press). If I wasn't preparing for a contest, my strength would be very close to what it was 25 yrs ago

As far as the women, I try and stear clear as after many GF's I've learned. But I can tell you that I get looks from females half my age, not saying they want to jump me, just stares. But women 40 and over who are stuck with these overweight dumpy looking guys who cant get it up and don't care to, well they are attracted to me (I say that very humbly I may add). So after 33 yrs of hard training, it all pays dividends that most would only dream of.

I finally realized how important diet is. And yes, old broads are easily impressed. I usually keep pretty covered up
and its funny how older woman close to my age are trying to get a feel or squeeze to see what you have under your
shirt. I always look em in the eye but its pretty obvious. Especially
considering the shape of most guys over 30.

LOL...I am older than all you guys (61). Been training for 30 years. One thing I have learned is that I make better gains doing 2 sets per exercise than I did when I was doing 4 sets per exercise. Yes I am still making gains. At least in my mind I am...haha. At my age, its all about recuperation. I never train more than 2 days in a row. I train in what I call "speed training mode". No more than 30 seconds rest between sets. I can get a chest/shoulder/tri workout done in about 30 minutes. Then 30 minutes of cardio, and I am walking out the door.

Bro what you consider older broads? I know its a relative thing (according to my cousin :)) but at 53 I find most women from late 30's on easy to impress

Injuries happen a little more frequently and take a lot longer to recovery. Muscle maturity is great. Getting my abs cut up actually require effort now.
