I know some people don't believe iin it and some do. What are your thoughts on it? I have mixed emotions, I think one reason a lot of people believe in it is because of the injuries related to heavy training and completely exhausting the muscle. But if you train for the pump, is it still possible?

well , for the last 2 month i have been working my biceps everytime i go to the gym after my main workout, i do 2 different biceps workouts everytime, and i have very good results so far , also i did the same with front delts , for me i belive this is the only way to make the lagging parts really grow.

Joe there is some truth to what you just wrote. I've been hitting my bi's twice a week and they've been growing. I never thought about hitting them everyday. I think I may try that for a couple weeks.

One of the Weider theories is the shock principle, where you shock the muscle into growth by working it a number of times in a row, say everyday or every other day for approx 10 days. Then rest it the full week, maybe more. It fully recovers and comes back bigger, stronger.

Theres a BB'ing guru, maybe John Parillo that states theres no such thing as overtraing, just undereating. He may be spot on, the guy knows his shit

My opinion of over training is when it starts to effect your CNS (lack of sleep, nutrition, stress, illness) and to do that in weight training is very difficult to where you can not workout. I do believe in over training a muscle group to where it will not grow though.

This is so true. The human body is capable of incredible amounts of stress. Look at what Soldiers go through in Ranger School. Look what Seals go through with BUDS. Just immense amounts of physical and mental stress and pain.

Hitting a body part a few more times a week and getting 8 hours of sleep is nowhere near overtraining.

the only way im not in the gym is because my wife would tell me,,, realy its been 7days non stop , give it a rest ! lol!

Some people think that you make gains by overtraining, but you really don't see how strong you have gotten until you reduce frequency. If you life depended on adding 100 lbs to your squat in 12 weeks, would you only squat once a week?

Others believe in HIT like training.

I think that it depends on a lot of factors like what gear you are running, body fat, injuries, caloric intake ect. Also, everyone is different. Part of being a genetic freak might be the ability to recover faster.

But at the end of the day, there are powerlifters and bodybuilders that are in both camps - so it's likely an individual thing.

For me, the less I train, the bigger and stronger I get within reason. After accepting that (which took over a decade) I find my sweet spot to be no more than one day on with a day off and each muscle group at most once every two weeks. Anything else and I get burned out and lose strength. I've never met anyone who trains as little as I do, but that's what works for my body.

This is crazy to me. If I was able to, I'd be in the gym everyday training something different.

For example, I did shoulders/triceps Monday, today I went in trained chest/triceps and threw in some side laterals and upright rows to hit the side delts (my biggest lagging muscle). I'm going to keep doing this and see what happens. Preworkout supps make me feel like I can go all day in the gym and that's what kinda made me think of whether overtraining could be something to consider.
